During the annual Graphics of the Americas exhibition, XPLOR International is organizing a PDF University from Feb. 28 to March 3, 2007 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Florida. For more information go to http://www.pdf-university.org/ In 2006 XPLOR has organized the first PDF event in Miami. PDF Forum covered the latest technology trends for using PDF in print production. In 2007 the focus will be on education. That's why the name was changed to PDF University. XPLOR has also changed the structure of the presentations. Instead of sessions with 3 speakers with 15 minutes presentations each, classes with one instructor covering a topic more in depth in 50 minutes will be offered. The instructors are all well known industry experts from North America and Europe. PDF University will be organized and moderated by two chairs: David Zwang (USA) and Stephan Jaeggi (Switzerland), both long time PDF specialists. PDF University starts on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 with an afternoon tutorial entitled "Reliable PDF Print Publishing Workflows" presented by Dov Isaacs, Principal Scientist, Adobe Systems. On Thursday, March 1, PDF University offers a course called "PDF for Prepress Production" with classes on the print production features of Arcobat 8.0, preflight, color in PDF, the latest developments in PDF/X and PDF RIPs. We close the day with the PDF Lab where we will showcase the hottest PDF tools for print production. The course on Friday, March 2, is dedicated to "PDF for Document Publishing" which looks at other ways to publish documents than traditional print production. This course includes classes on the new document features of Acrobat 8.0, PDF/A for archiving, server based PDF creation, Web-to-Print solutions, the future of PDF and Flash and a PDF Lab with the hottest PDF tools for document publishing. On Saturday morning, March 3, you can attend a tutorial on PDF/X in Daily Production which covers the creation and verification of PDF/X files but also their use in prepress production. In the Workshop Tips + Tricks for advanced PDF Users on Saturday afternoon attendees will learn a lot of tips and tricks from "PDF Pope" Stephan Jaeggi. Here you can also ask all the questions you might have regarding PDF. Attendees can bring their files (on USB or CD-R) for an analysis by the instructor.
