Standard Announces New Product Installations

Press release from the issuing company

Andover, MA - November 29, 2006 -- Standard Finishing Systems announces the following new product installations: Darwill, based in Hillside, Illinois, recently increased their post-press efficiency with the addition of a Standard Horizon StitchLiner 5500 automated saddlestitching system with in-line three-knife trimmer. The system supports both conventionally offset printed work from their MAN Roland 40-sheet-fed presses, and pre-collated output from their Xerox iGen3 digital color press. Since installation, the fast changeover times and productivity of the system have enabled Darwill to dramatically increase the number of different saddlestitching jobs they can efficiently process each day. Founded in 1951, Darwill is a frequent recipient of industry awards and is recognized as a commercial print and direct marketing leader. Premier Printing Ltd. based in Winnipeg, Manitoba recently added a new Standard Horizon AFC-546AKT automated floor-model paper folder. The system was installed to provide quick set-ups and changeovers for shorter-run work. Since the installation, Premier Printing Ltd. has become more efficient with cross-training their bindery staff for production flexibility because of the automation of the Standard Horizon folder. Family-owned Premier Printing has been providing quality commercial printing and graphic arts services for over 40 years. Printing Corporation of America, a Consolidated Graphics company in Baltimore, MD, has strengthened their in-house short-run bookbinding capability by adding a new Standard Horizon BQ-270 automated perfect binder and HT-30 three-side trimmer. The systems were installed to allow quick, efficient in-house production of short-run books, binding output from their conventional offset and Kodak Nexpress digital color presses. Since installation, the shop has improved response time for ultra-short book runs without any compromise in book quality. Printing Corporation of America has provided a full range of printing, binding, fulfillment and mailing services since 1971. O'Neil Data Systems, a leading supplier of marketing communication and publishing solutions based in Los Angeles, CA, has recently added two new Standard Hunkeler pre/post paper handling lines to new OcÈ Variostream 7650 continuous-feed digital printers. O'Neil now has four Standard Hunkeler pre/post lines installed to handle their fast-growing digital print volume. Standard Hunkeler equipment at O'Neil is running lightweight stock down to 40 gsm in configurations that include roll-to-stack and roll-to-roll, as well as near-line roll-to-finish and roll-to-insert.
