Another KBA perfector heads for Derbyshire

Press release from the issuing company

Nov 27, 2006 -- Buxton Press, the award-winning Derbyshire magazine printer, is yet again stepping up its production capacity ahead of schedule and ahead of its competitors. Continuing a seven-year successful collaboration with leading press manufacturer KBA, Buxton Press has ordered its seventh KBA long perfecting sheetfed press to be mated to the companys third paper-saving RapidKut reel sheeter. With the additional KBA press, Buxton Press will be the largest long perfecting sheetfed magazine printer in the UK and also house the biggest KBA perfector installation anywhere in the world. The additional high-speed reel sheeter will also give Buxton the highest number of reel sheeters on any UK site. Kirk Galloway, works director, says: "We have been delighted with the performance and reliability of our KBA presses and the additional press, perfecting at 15,000sph, will give a significant boost to our press fire-power, allowing us to keep pace with our rapidly expanding workload." Buxton Press produces over 380 titles annually for over 160 leading publishers and the company has recently collected a series of prestigious awards and citations including the top accolade of Environmental Printer of the Year. Buxton has reduced its carbon by some 200 tonnes by the deployment of sophisticated energy control and recycling systems including alcohol-free printing. KBAs manufacturing methods for its market leading presses illustrate it shares Buxton Press commitment to environmental concern and KBA has backed numerous industry-wide environmental initiatives including sponsoring several industrial awards. KBA UK managing director Christian Knapp says: "It is always impressive to see such rapid press investment as seven presses in seven years. Obviously superb press productivity coupled with sound environmental benefits prove beyond doubt that caring and astute printers can and will make money in our industry." The Rapida 105 8-unit press purchased by Buxton Press is one of the highly successful Rapida range securing a rapidly growing installation base amongst discerning printers in the UK and Ireland. The new 105, launched at Drupa 2004, is KBAs highest selling sheetfed press and offers outstanding levels of production and substrate flexibility. The Rapida 105 has a maximum rating of 18,000sph in straight production and 15,000sph in perfecting mode.
