Graphics of the Americas Enhances Annual Event with Web-To-Print Emphasis

Press release from the issuing company

Miami Beach, Florida- November 21, 2006- Graphics of the Americas-Xplor, the second largest U.S.-based annual international graphic communications exhibition today announced additional event features to their conference and exhibition, February 28 through March 4, 2007, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. For the first time, Graphics of the Americas will feature a Web-to-Print exhibition pavilion, information area and conference symposium exploring of the industry's most talked about technologies and market opportunities. The Web-to-Print Pavilion will take the form of a focused exhibition and highly visible area among the 1200 booths in the Graphics of the Americas exhibition hall. The pavilion is dedicated to Web-to-Print solutions including storefront, brand management, portal and online procurement models. In addition, a Web-to-Print information area, adjacent to the exhibition area, will be part of the overall pavilion. Information provided by the PIA/GATF will allow attendees to explore different Web-to-Print solutions and business models, helping printers and end-users understand the technology as it applies to their businesses. In addition, the information area will give attendees guidance on visiting the appropriate exhibiting company for their needs. Also, information will be provided that has been compiled by the PIA/GATF and the Printing Association of Florida and distributed by the event staff. Graphics of the Americas will also host a two-hour educational symposium on Saturday, March 2, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. The symposium will demystify Web-to-Print technologies and strategies in use today allowing attendees to evaluate an increasing array of technologies including "build or buy," stand-alone software or hosted solutions. The symposium is free to all attendees. "While Web-to-Print is a very popular topic in the media today, the technology is often misunderstood or considered novel, given the wide variety of solutions available to printers and end-users," said Chris Price, vice president and general manager for Graphics of the Americas. "However, according to a recent survey, 54% of the respondents plan to purchase and introduce a Web-to-Print solution in the next 12 months." In October of 2006, the PIA/GATF and Printing Impressions magazine conducted a survey with over 400 magazine readers. The survey revealed that 50% of the respondents were already using Web-to-Print solutions including branded customer storefronts, production portals (26%) and digital storefronts (18%). In addition, 41% of the respondents plan to build their solutions from scratch, rather than purchase software or use a hosted site. The survey also goes on to say that 63% of the respondents said that their Web-to-Print solution increased the volume of work coming into their plant, over a third improved their profitability and 22% cited better cash flow.
