Quad/Graphics Names Bill Graushar as Vice President of Finishing Operations

Press release from the issuing company

NOV 16, 2006 -- Quad/Graphics has named Bill Graushar to the position of Vice President of Finishing Operations. In this role, Mr. Graushar will direct the company's vast Finishing operations, corporate-wide. "Bill is widely respected -- both within our company and within the printing industry -- for his knowledge and commitment to customer satisfaction," said Joel Quadracci, President & CEO of Quad/Graphics. "He is ideally suited for maintaining our position as a Finishing technology leader." A 27-year veteran of Quad/Graphics, Mr. Graushar most recently served as the company's Manager of Finishing Research & Development. He is the inventor or co-inventor on 23 patents and 14 pending patent applications, including the printer-feeder pocket for ink jetting parallel to the foot of a book on any inside signature; the double cover, or coverwrap, application for affixing two covers to one book, which has proved particularly useful in client marketing efforts; and the Multi-Mailer for combining (offline) prebound mailpieces into a single mailstream, creating lower per-piece postage rates. "I look forward to building on my responsibilities, particularly helping clients find ways to use our Finishing capabilities to achieve their business goals," Mr. Graushar said. "It's an exciting time in our company and our industry and I'm glad to be a part of it." Mr. Graushar joined Quad/Graphics in 1979 after working 10 years at Wisconsin Cuneo Press. Hired at Quad/Graphics as a Finishing Department Manager, he originally oversaw the binding of Newsweek on the night shift. When Quad/Graphics opened its second plant in Sussex, Wis., four years later, Mr. Graushar assumed responsibility for supervising all Finishing maintenance and equipment installations, which, at the time, included some of the company's first perfect binders. Before long, he redirected his focus on creating the future of Quad/Graphics' finishing operations through the hands-on development of productivity-enhancing automation and value-added applications. During his career, he has done everything from developing software to overseeing building and equipment layout, engineering process improvements, and determining equipment acquisitions. A member of the printing industry's Research & Engineering (R&E) Council since 1981, Mr. Graushar currently serves on its Executive Committee. Earlier this fall, he was recognized as the R&E Council's 2006 Bindery, Finishing and Mailing Operations Manager of the Year for his instrumental role in keeping Quad/Graphics and its clients at the forefront of the Finishing world.
