Europrint Installs Two Komori Web Presses

Friday, November 17, 2006

Press release from the issuing company

Nov 16, 2006 -- Europrint, one of the Czech Republic's top five printing companies, has just installed the first two Komori web presses in the country. The major investment in a new and second-hand 16-page Komori System 38S web press is part of the firm's total refurbishment of its Prague-based factory alongside two B1 platesetters and perfect binding and stitching equipment. A record 5 months after Europrint placed the order with Komori, both presses were delivered and installed and has just entered full operation. The event will be marked by a celebration at what is now described as the Czech Republic's 'most modern and up to date production facilities.' The buoyant publishing industry in the Czech Republic lies behind the company's strategy to upgrade its production capabilities and expand its capacity. "Magazines comprise the majority of our work, with a certain amount of catalogues and brochures, and our business is expanding rapidly," says Robert Glenda, company director and manager on the Komori project. "We print up to 50 titles a month ranging in run length from 15.000 to 70.000 copies each, and 24 - 96 pagination. Consequently we needed the best web presses available that could provide a high level of automation, speed, rapid turnaround and deliver the very best quality." The Komori webs at Europrint replace an existing old web press and are complemented by three offset presses (8, 4 and 2-colour). Both Komori presses feature automatic plate changing for rapid job switch over, plus automatic wash up and inline folder. "The ability to implement a wide variety of folding options enables us to offer our customers a huge amount of flexibility," explains Mr Glenda. Furthermore the integrated KHS-AI (Advanced Interface) control system provides one-step register adjustment, colour matching and fold adjustment to shorten makeready times and minimise paper waste. Robert Glenda likes the fact that Europrint is a Komori web pioneer in the Czech Republic. "Our investment in these impressive presses has attracted a lot of attention from the market. There is dual benefit - not only are have they expanded our capacity significantly, but they are attracting more business too."
