Bowne Manufacturing Site Earns ISO Certification

NEW YORK, NY--Nov 15, 2006 -- Bowne & Co., Inc., a leader in financial, marketing and business communications services, today announced that its South Bend manufacturing site has earned certification under the International Standard Organization (ISO) management system standards, ISO 14001:2004. The certification covers a plant's environmental procedures, processes and planning activities, and calls for continual improvement programs in environmental management. The site joins Bowne of Canada, Ltd. in receiving ISO certification. Bowne of Canada was first certified under ISO 9001:2000 in 1996, and was recertified in September 2006 by SGS Group, the world's leading verification, testing and certification agency. Bowne of Canada employs approximately 450 people in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. As part of Bowne's continuing commitment to protecting the world's forests, water supply and wildlife, the Company's South Bend manufacturing plant also received certification with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). In Canada, Bowne's main production facility in Toronto is also certified under the FSC. With these added certifications, interested clients can be assured that their work is produced according to environmentally sound standards.
