David Dilling ñ Director of Markzware Europe Markzware is a California-based software publishing company that caters to the graphic, printing and publishing industries on a global scale. Leading products include FlightCheck Professional , a quality control tool for print and multimedia manufacturing workflow. FlightCheck Professional has set the standard for preflighting and has saved the printing industry millions since it was first introduced to the market more than ten years ago. It uses a drag-and-drop interface and scans a wide selection of file types, including InDesign, QuarkXPress, Portable Document Formats (PDF), PageMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, FreeHand, CorelDRAW and many more FlightCheck inspects a document using hundreds of available checks. It warns the operator about any problems that may be present in a digital file, including font and graphic problems. The application verifies critical file elements, such as color space and resolution, assuring validity. After verification, FlightCheck Professional delivers a detailed report, indicating whether the file has passed or failed the preflight tests and explains specific problems that must be solved to ensure that the file will proceed to the next stage of production without mistakes or delays. Markzware offers a simplified version of the program - FlightCheck Designer. Another top selling product from Markzware is Q2ID (QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign) which offers users an easy way to convert QuarkXPress content into a new Adobe InDesign document. Conversion is made possible by a single click using InDesign's File->Open. The majority of the intricate details of the document are instantly re-created within InDesign. Items converted include: page positioning, color models, fonts and styles, images, and text attributes as well as tables, layers, blends, runarounds, linked text boxes and anchored boxes, pantone colors and other color models. Q2ID can convert QuarkXPress documents created on either the Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh OS, into a new Adobe InDesign file. Q2ID conversion technology saves seemingly endless hours of scanning or re-keying and formatting documents. The product can convert QuarkXPress documents created on either the Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh OS, into Macintosh Adobe InDesign. Markzware also produces MarkzTools - an XTension that can be used to prevent corrupted QuarkXPress documents. This product enables users to verify saved Quark documents, so they will immediately know when the integrity of their files are suspect.
