KODAK DIRECTPRESS 5634 DI is the Answer for JP Graphics

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 23 -- According to Joan Escover, owner of JP Graphics in Santa Clara, Calif., the KODAK DIRECTPRESS 5634 DI digital offset press is “the one press that you must have in a printing business like ours.” Escover said the speed, quality and flexibility of the DIRECTPRESS 5634 system delivered a quicker return on investment than any other piece of equipment in her shop. “This one press is the answer to handling many of the jobs that come through our doors,” said Escover. “At JP Graphics, we do everything from one color business cards to six color packaging and point of purchase jobs. If I could go back to the beginning when we founded this company eight years ago, the DIRECTPRESS would be the press I’d install first.” The DIRECTPRESS 5634 DI digital offset press combines excellent image quality with the simplicity and automation of a Direct Image press. Combined with all the essential workflow, service and support components necessary for successful implementation of short run color printing, the DIRECTPRESS 5634 system provides outstanding detail and solid coverage, while supporting 16 micron dot diameters for 300 line AM, stochastic and hybrid screening. It is the workhorse at JP Graphics handling shorter run and smaller sized jobs more efficiently than other presses at the company. To handle its conventional offset production, JP Graphics added a KODAK PRINERGY EVO workflow system and a KODAK MAGNUS 400 platesetter with a multi cassette unit, which feeds plates to a number of presses at JP Graphics. The company also uses a KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet proofing solution and KODAK SWORD Excel thermal printing plates. “The PRINERGY EVO system makes it easier for us to make changes to a job during production, and the web based proofing capabilities it offers are a real hit with the print brokers we work with because it helps them with their customers,” said Escover. “Using the PRINERGY EVO system, we can output several jobs simultaneously to different proofing devices, which is a huge time saver for our operation.” The MAGNUS 400 platesetter “is very automated” and allows JP Graphics to load three different plate sizes and automatically select plates as jobs run, Escover added. “We love technology and the MAGNUS 400 platesetter is a great piece of equipment.” The MAGNUS 400 device turns out plates for longer run jobs that print off other presses at JP Graphics. With a true 6 up drum size, the MAGNUS 400 platesetter can image an extensive range of plate sizes, presenting new business opportunities. Exceptional imaging speeds, at up to 21 plates per hour, process jobs quickly with short lead times. The MAGNUS 400 platesetter also offers high quality screening of up to 250 lpi and KODAK STACCATO 25 micron screening for superior imaging. KODAK products are backed by KODAK Service and Support, Kodak’s worldwide service organization. Named Best Support Organization at the 2006 International Business Awards, KODAK Service and Support includes more than 3,000 professionals in 120 countries.
