Oce Showcases Solutions that Deliver Breakthrough Results at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL—October 15, 2006 -- Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces that solutions for print professionals in graphic arts will be showcased in Booth 1263 at Graph Expo. Océ will demonstrate a range of technology to help commercial and corporate operations achieve breakthrough results. A highlight of the Océ booth will be the award-winning Océ VarioPrint" 6250, the most productive digital duplex cut sheet printer in the world. The Océ VarioPrint 6250 is up to 70 percent faster than any other printer in its class, printing 250 letter-, 160 legal- or 132 ledger-size duplex prints per minute. Revolutionary Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology presses the image into both sides of the page in one pass. At Graph Expo, attendees can see the new system in action printing a Sudoku booklet and technical manual. The system is also configured with an IBIS Smartbinder to produce two perfect-bound books: Meltdown: the Official Fiery Foods Show Cookbook, and a guide to the Royals of England. Attendees will see how the Océ VarioPrint 6250 helps them expand services, reduce costs and drive profitability to deliver breakthrough business results. As digital color takes the industry by storm, Océ has pioneered a unique approach: Job Appropriate Color output. Companies only invest in the color they need to achieve business results. Océ offers the industry's most complete product set to address multiple levels of color, technologies and speed bands, so printers can choose the color technology that is right for their goals. The Océ VarioStream" 9000 black- and color-capable platform is a key element of the Océ Job Appropriate color strategy. At 231 impressions per minute, it's one of the fastest digital printers on the market for three-over-three printing. Graph Expo attendees can see the system simultaneously printing monochrome, two-over-two and three-over-three (black plus two custom colors double-sided) applications. The featured application, a digital newspaper, demonstrates the possibilities of three-over-three color. An innovative color mixing technique produces output that looks like much more than three-over-three color. At the other end of the spectrum, the full-color Océ CPS900 digital color press offers 100 percent consistent color, offset-like quality, and problem-free performance without calibration. Océ is demonstrating the Océ CPT60 tandem system, which teams multiple print engines in a single configuration to add speed and capacity. The CPT60 combines the color consistency of the CPS family with high-capacity output for production-level performance. With the CPT systems, fast-growing print shops can start with a single machine and upgrade easily and affordably. The tandem system will be printing a personalized variable data postcard and other applications. One of the fastest growing applications for commercial printers is the economical production of short run books, and the Océ VarioStream 7650cx is the centerpiece of the Océ Digital Book Solution. At Graph Expo, it is shown in combination with Océ PRISMATM software, printing books on demand with crisp halftones, solid blacks, and consistency on every page. Jobs are submitted over the web and efficiently move through the workflow. Applications being shown on the Océ VarioStream 7000 include a single-sided personalized statement and selected chapters of Graphic Design and Production Technology by Martin L. Greenwald, with covers printed on the CPS900 and bound using an IBIS SmartBinder. Five hundred signed copies of the book will be available free to booth guests. At Graph Expo, Océ demonstrates its next generation of mid-production systems to help professional print providers respond to customer requirements. The new Océ VarioPrint Titanium family offers outstanding image quality, uninterrupted production, jam-free performance, and flexibility to print-while-RIP, load-while-run and program-while-run. A new High Capacity Stacker increases unattended productivity. The Océ VarioPrint Titanium series adds even more productivity and performance through interoperability with other vendor workflows. Support for oversized media from every drawer increases the range of possible applications. The quiet system has the lowest ozone emission in its class. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 Titanium makes its US debut at Graph Expo printing a duplex manual, a 14-page booklet with color covers and inserts, and a comic book. Software is at the heart of every print operation, and at Graph Expo, attendees get an up-close look at Océ PRISMA software, the most tightly integrated, highly functional digital document workflow architecture on the market. Océ continues to expand the PRISMA architecture to provide customers with more capabilities. At Graph Expo, groundbreaking new Océ PRISMAprepareTM PDF-based software streamlines print make-ready tasks. It optimizes production of color and black-and-white documents on production printers like the Océ VarioPrint 2110 Titanium and Océ VarioPrint 6250. Attendees can see how Océ drives interoperability with Océ DPconvertTM software, which offers seamless conversion from proprietary formats to market standards for customers who want to switch to Océ printers without modifying RDO-based applications. Océ DPlinkTM software offers plug-and-play DigiPath" and FreeFlow" Makeready connectivity for operations that need to maintain a mixed print environment, but don't want to change applications.
