Oce Expands Color Gamut of VarioStream 9000 to Include Unique Blended Color Capability

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO—October 15, 2006 -- Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces an expanded color gamut for the Océ VarioStream" 9230 that delivers Océ Job Appropriate Color" output with higher productivity and at a lower cost than full process (CMYK) printing. Color can increase document effectiveness, and with Océ Job Appropriate Color, customers only need to use the amount of color that is appropriate to the specific job. Businesses can get exactly the level of color they need to meet their business objectives without having to overextend their color printing investment. The new expanded gamut opens up a wider spectrum of color choices for users to implement Job Appropriate Color and capture more business opportunities. With the versatile Océ VarioStream 9230, print operations can bring the benefits of Job Appropriate Color to both transactional and on-demand applications, as well as booklets. The expanded color blends are achieved by combining black with one or two additional colors. By superimposing printing of solid or screened colors, a wide variety of tints and hues can be obtained. In addition, every Océ CustomTone" toner can be screened to achieve a lighter color. Océ CustomTone can match specific colors to deliver output that matches company branding guidelines or other requirements. Users can achieve the desired color results via duotone or tritone combinations for Job Appropriate Color with a digital printing process that is less expensive than full process (CMYK) printing. The innovative color mixing technique produces output that appears to have more than three-over-three color results. Customers are able to drive even more versatility from their Océ VarioStream investment and increase their successful use of Job Appropriate Color. The Océ VarioStream 9000 can print monochrome duplex pages at black-and-white speed and cost, while the next job can print a 3/3 page at 3/3 speed and cost. In fact, users can even print both 1/1 and 3/3 in any combination in a single job, paying for only what is printed. Users can better manage their production costs without limiting their choices. They gain productivity by combining more color work in one uninterrupted workflow. "One of the most exclusive features of the Océ VarioStream 9000 family is its ability to blend highlight colors to achieve a broad range of hues much like those of a full-color offset press. The unique imaging engine of the continuous-feed Océ VarioStream 9230 allows blending of nearly all Océ toners to create a virtually limitless combination of highlight colors for text, headlines, logos and other design elements to help customers produce more effective documents," said Joyce Virnich, Vice President of Marketing for Océ Digital Document Systems.
