Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, Illinois. – Graph Expo, Booth 5418 – October 15, 2006 -- X-Rite, Incorporated, the leading provider of color management solutions and services, announces the availability of PlateScope, the world’s most accurate dot measurement and plate process control device at Graph Expo 2006. PlateScope gives printers the confidence of knowing their plates are accurate before they’re put on press by identifying faulty plates that can cut into profitability. When considering the time and expense of press operations, any early detection/ diagnosis of quality problems before the press run is crucial to reducing ink, paper and plate waste. “PlateScope joins X-Rite’s lineup of the most accurate plate process control solutions available on the market,” says Chris LaFontaine, X-Rite’s worldwide market manager, pressroom, “PlateScope not only delivers accurate plate measurement for the broadest array of plates, it also provides the ability to establish a profile of CTP device direct to a specific press, increasing press run efficiencies. PlateScope ensures that plates are right the first time, every time.” Measures leading plate and screening technologies. PlateScope is the optimal solution for measuring new chemistry-free and processless plates. It also supports measurement of modern screening technologies, including AM, FM and Hybrid. Accurate in extreme shadows and highlights. All plate measurement devices claim a degree of accuracy in the midtones. Measuring shadows and highlight is another story. PlateScope is so accurate, it even reliably measures extreme highlights and shadows, identifying the areas of most concern in the print process for early detection of potential printing issues. Software completes the package. PlateScope isn’t just another plate measurement device; it’s a complete plate process control system. With the integrated QC Plate software, printers can “profile” their platesetters, plates, presses and paper types to automatically generate the proper gain curves and speed quality checks. Easy to use. PlateScope underwent extensive testing to ensure ease of use, even in a chaotic and time-pressure production environment. An icon-driven user interface is extremely intuitive, and its functional design makes it a comfortable fit even during prolonged usage. Industry-first video-targeting system. PlateScope uses a patent-pending video targeting system that allows users to easily position for measurement even when held at arm’s length or in darker lighting conditions. Instead of requiring users to peer through a viewfinder, PlateScope offers a built-in screen that makes it far easier to view specific areas on a plate, right down to the dot. PlateScope is part of X-Rite’s Plate Reader family, which also includes iCPlate II Advanced for AM and FM plate measurement, as well as film and paper, and vipFLEX for FLEXO plate applications, including AM and FM screening, as well as Samba (hybrid screening). PlateScope is available immediately in North America. Distribution to additional countries is planned for late fall.
