Genesis Unveils Environmentally Responsible Wash

Press release from the issuing company

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Oct. 12, 2006) -- Have you been searching for an environmentally responsible blanket and roller wash that can clean your entire pressroom? If so, Amerikal Products Corporation is proud to begin offering printers a solution. After three years and five generations of development, the company, through its Genesis division has perfected and unveiled BRIGL (pronounced BREE-GUL). BRIGL is made with more than 90 percent raw materials grown on American farms and has a VOC content of 34.3 grams per liter. It is extremely effective on cold set, heat set, ultraviolet, co-cure and electron beam inks for web and sheet fed presses, which means you can use one wash for an entire pressroom. "For the past 17 years, we've been committed to investing time and resources to the development of environmentally responsible products" said Robert Danielson Jr., Amerikal vice president of business development and sales. "Our previous generations of blanket and roller washes and fountain solutions have proven there is a better and different approach to manufacturing pressroom chemicals. Now, with new government regulations on the horizon, BRIGL is proving to be ahead of its time. It's the perfect solution for printers who want to increase productivity without compromising the health and safety of their employees." BRIGL is the first product to deliver exactly what it promises. Premier printers, who took part in Amerikal's trial phase of BRIGL experienced prolonged roller life, reduced overall consumption, a reduction in pressroom odors and essentially no hazardous waste streams from blanket and roller washes. Printers were also pleased to learn BRIGL could be used for manual an automatic wash up procedures, reducing consumption by 30-60 percent compared to traditional washes and cutting overall costs. "After years of development, we've finally created the ideal wash," said Danielson. "Based on feedback from premier printers from around the world, we learned how important it was to have one wash that would work on various ink sets. The days of having multiple blanket and roller washes inventoried at all times are gone." Prior to developing BRIGL the following criteria was set forth by Amerikal, no use of SARA Title 313 or Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP's) chemicals, no use of acetone, surfactants or petroleum as raw materials. Additionally, BRIGL was required to have an open cup flash point greater than 200 degrees Fahrenheit and could not exceed 50 grams per liter of VOC's. BRIGL exceeds current and proposed municipal, district, state and federal VOC mandates (34.3 g/L) and waste wash from automatic systems may no longer be classified as hazardous. Based in Waukegan, Ill., Amerikal Products Corporation, through its Genesis division is the leading innovator and manufacturer of environmentally responsible pressroom chemicals. Founded in 1989, Amerikal is committed to improving customer's productivity and profitability by developing products and equipment designed to preserve natural resources, reduce consumable usage, waste streams and energy costs and improve overall health and safety.
