Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif., October 10, 2006 - HP today announced that Innovative Labeling Solutions (ILS) has purchased its second HP Indigo press ws4050, along with an upgrade package that includes HP's new fast-ink replacement feature. The new press, purchased at the 2006 Labelexpo Americas trade show in September, will help ILS gain greater efficiencies and productivity by using HP Indigo technology in mainstream label production. "ILS is just one example of many HP Indigo customers who are buying their second and third HP Indigo presses to offer a streamlined, cost-effective way for converters to meet more of their customers' needs," said Vince Pentella, business manager, HP Indigo Label and Packaging Group. "We see it as a true vote of confidence when converters who already own HP Indigo presses tell us they can generate even more new business offering small-order quantity work and other digitally printed solutions with additional HP Indigo presses." The new press, to be installed in October, was purchased just as ILS celebrated its 10th anniversary in September. The company enters its second decade leveraging the assets of digital technology to fulfill jobs that are cost-prohibitive to produce on the firm's flexographic equipment. "Since we purchased our first HP Indigo press ws4050 in January, we've won a lot of new business producing sales samples and other short-run products such as nutraceutical labels," said Jay Dollries, president, ILS. "The new press will also be used to meet a groundswell in small order quantity and multiple-SKU work from existing flexo customers." The best digital solution for printing special colors ILS' new HP Indigo press ws4050 also features the Value Pack upgrade which includes HP's new fast-ink replacement feature and several other enhancements. These features, unveiled on the new HP Indigo press ws4500 model at Labelexpo Americas, are engineered to enable cost-effective production of jobs up to approximately 6,500 linear feet(1). Fast-ink replacement will enable ILS to replace spot colors in 5th, 6th or 7th printing stations with virtually no interruption in operation, eliminating the downtime associated with switching between spot-color jobs(1). ILS' clients will gain a cost-effective means to have their special-color jobs printed digitally. Additional features and benefits of the Value Pack upgrade include: - Measurable reduction in operator intervention for web handling(1) - Use of improved white HP ElectoInk for enhanced color quality and clarity - Printing system enhancements designed to enable robust and reliable 24/7 operation. Designed for maximum productivity and cost-efficiency, the HP Indigo press ws4050 prints full-color variable labels on demand and has an enhanced substrate capacity suitable for a wide array of applications, from self-adhesive labels to shrink sleeves and flexible packaging. The press also offers high-quality color, fast turnaround times and the ability to consistently match up to 97% of the PANTONE Color range. Other value-adding features available for the HP Indigo press ws4050 include a reinsertion capability that enables duplex imaging for two-sided prime labels, as well as a validation program for the production of FDA-compliant pharmaceutical labels.
