Midwest printers turning to MAN Roland in record numbers for profitable advancements

Press release from the issuing company

MAN Roland is making record sales inroads in the Midwest as printers are increasingly turning to the pressmaker’s advanced technology to better serve their customers and increase their profitability. These were among some of the major purchases registered recently by MAN Roland’s sales teams throughout the Midwest: The ROI on UV Jackson Press, the printing division of the marketing communications agency The Jackson Group, has added a third MAN Roland press to its busy pressroom. The new six-color-plus-coater ROLAND 700 is equipped to apply ultraviolet inks and coatings, enabling the company to produce a variety of new applications for its customers and prospects. “The UV capabilities of our newest ROLAND 700 will allow us to print on vinyl, styrene and the whole gamut of plastic substrates,” says Ron Jackson, President and Founder. “We’re going to apply that capability to produce products that require either durability or to print pieces that need a very high-gloss look to deliver the highest level of appeal to the consumer.” Performance Package Accord Carton, one of the Midwest’s fastest growing packaging printers, is stepping up in size to add bigger opportunities and more profitability to its operation. The company installed a new 56-inch ROLAND 900 this summer to complement and expand upon its 40-inch production stream. Accord President Robert Codo says that size was only one factor in selecting the six-color-plus-coater press. “We had three different proposals on the table that we carefully examined,” he notes. “We found that MAN Roland offered the best value and best package for the money. We took a lot of things into consideration and the ROLAND 900 came out on top.” The Alsip, Illinois printer equipped its ROLAND 900 for continuous operation. “That’s very important to complete longer running jobs efficiently,” Codo explains. “We’re 24/6 now, and we plan to run the larger format initially two shifts a day, five days a week. Then we anticipate lots of growth with this format to reach full capacity.” Describing the ROLAND 900 as “lynchpin of our growth plan,” Codo projects that the press is “capable of adding $20 million in sales to my business.” Wynalda Goes Extra-Extra Large Wynalda Litho in Rockford, Michigan is growing larger with a six-color ROLAND 900 XXL with inline coater and extended delivery. The company has over three decades of experience in commercial printing and packaging for a variety of different industries including pharmaceutical, healthcare, food, cosmetics, software and most prominently, entertainment. “These industries have very high standards for quality and require experience, quick turnarounds, specialized security, certifications and creative solutions,” Wynalda states. Quality Sells at SouthPrint SouthPrint in Columbus, Ohio has just installed a new ROLAND 700. The press is configured with six colors, an in-line coating and an extended delivery. “We tested and researched presses from the top three manufacturers, and found that the ROLAND 700 is capable of producing the finest dot and solids in our market,” says SouthPrint owner and president Tod Haman. “Other presses can’t come close to printing the dot that the ROLAND 700 does. So with the ROLAND 700, we can offer our customers and prospective customers unsurpassed print quality.” SouthPrint intends to use MAN Roland’s printnet system as a digital backbone that will facilitate computer integrated manufacturing (CIM). “printnet will network our job management workflow from order entry through production, prepress and out to the ROLAND 700,” Haman says. “Print jobs will get to the press in JDF format with usable job information that can do most of the press presetting tasks without the press operator’s involvement. That’s a timesaver, especially on shorter runs.” Maximum Impact Maximum Graphics — a Consolidated Graphics Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota — is tapping the innovative resources of MAN Roland for a new eight-color ROLAND 700 perfector with inline coating and an extended delivery. Craig Mandery, COO at Maximum, sees the new press providing an extra measure of productivity to his clients. “The ROLAND 700 will be able to produce more projects in the same amount of time, due to all of the automated technology that comes with this machine.” Printers can see MAN Roland technology in action by visiting the MAN Roland exhibit at Graph Expo — #3237.
