Oct 3, 2006 -- Punch Graphix has presented the 5th generation of its basysPrint UV-Setters for large and super-large formats, which is characterized above all by a significant boost in imaging speed compared to the current models. The key to this advance is DSI³: The Generation 5 systems are built around the proven Digital Screen Imaging technology (DSI) of their predecessors. The further optimised DSI³ technology incorporated into the new UV-Setters, however, combines even greater tempo with imaging stability and constancy to guarantee ultimate production reliability. Like all other basysPrint models, the new UV-Setters image UV-sensitive printing plates. The key to an increased light exposure speed of UV plates with DSI³ (Digital Screen Imaging) lies in the combination of violet diodes and the proven basysPrint exposure head technology. In contrast to the other CtP systems, Punch Graphix uses the luminous power of several diodes which are installed on the outside of the exposure head. A light compensator collects the energy which is then channelled through optical fibres onto the DMD. This process combines the high precision of DSI² with up to double the exposure speeds. “Especially for companies printing large formats, the speed of plate imaging plays a decisive role. These users are the main target group for the new UV-Setter. Not only does it offer high imaging speeds, it is also possible to match the number of diodes to individual customer requirements,” explains Siegfried Trinker, chief sales officer at Punch Graphix. The new systems will be offered alongside the previous Generation 4 models for all basysPrint platesetters of the series 11 (max. 1,375 x 2,050 mm), 15 (max. 1,535 x 2,100 mm) and 16 (max. 1,535 x 3,170 mm). The UV-Setters are available in both manual and semi-automatic versions. They also maintain their customary open system architecture and thus integrate seamlessly with practically all workflow solutions presently on the market. The first UV-Setters of Generation 5 have already been installed. The new imaging system is to be launched officially with its presentation at Graph Expo Booth #1245 (Chicago USA, 15 – 18 October 2006).
