Sept 29, 2006 -- Ed Walker, 77, former owner and President of E.H. Walker Supply, Rockville, MD passed away September 25th of congestive heart failure. Ed was born and raised in Washington, DC. He was an accomplished painter and graduated from Syracuse University in 1951with a fine arts degree in Advertising Illustration. After a three year stint with the Marine Corps, Ed went to New York City to work as a commercial illustrator. In 1956, Ed returned to Washington to join the printing supply business started by his grandfather, "Dude" Walker. He eventually became President and owner of Walker Supply and guided it thru the transitions from lead type to offset to digital. He sold the first Heidelberg presses in the Washington area. Walker Supply grew under his leadership to be a highly respected independent supplier in the Baltimore/Washington area. He was active supporter of the PIA and the Printing Industry of Metropolitan Washington. He was integral in the formation of the GAESD Supplier Association and served a term as President. He was a founding member of #1 Network. Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years, June Walker and his children, Cindi Bekas, Kyle Walker and Kent Walker. He had five grandchildren. He was an extraordinary man and he will be missed. Donations can be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
