Xitron Announces Availability of TotalProof

Press release from the issuing company

Ann Arbor, Michigan – September 22, 2006 – Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow solutions; today announced the availability of TotalProof, a new family of products specifically designed to address the color proofing needs of commercial printers. TotalProof Media is the first product available in the TotalProof line and consists of two types of inkjet paper. TotalProof X1 Media is a high-quality semi-gloss inkjet paper designed to emulate press output on coated stock and is suitable for color critical proofs and contract proofs. TotalProof X2 Media is a general purpose paper designed for less color critical applications such as imposition proofs, or applications where the final output may be laminated. “Our customers demand accurate proofing options,” stated R. Patrick French, Xitron’s Vice President, Sales & Marketing. “We worked closely with our end-users, dealers and industry partners to develop TotalProof as a solution that will help commercial printers produce accurate, high-quality proofs with the least amount of fuss.” TotalProof also includes a set of custom profiles specifically created by Xitron for use with the X1 and X2 media. Profiles are available for Ultrachrome and Ultrachrome K3 printers from Epson and will soon be available for other popular proofing devices. The profiles were specially designed to produce the highest quality with Xitron’s RIPs and workflows including Navigator GPS, Xenith 4PDF & Extreme and Xenith Aero. “Our goal was to take the guesswork out of producing accurate proofs with X1 media,” stated Paul Napolitano, Xitron’s Sales Support Specialist. “TotalProof media and profiles underwent extensive beta testing at commercial printers this summer; where we listened to the issues our customers were experiencing with other proofing material and addressed them. When our beta accounts began ordering the material on their own, we knew we had a solid offering.” “Switching from our current stock to TotalProof Media was very easy and produced a better color match than we had expected,” stated Brad Steven, Information Technology Manager for Ann Arbor based Print-Tech, Inc. “We loaded the profiles supplied by Xitron into Xenith Aero and the accuracy to printed sheets was much closer than our previous paper/profile combination. Plus, the paper color looks much more like our press stock.” Xitron TotalProof media is currently being offered through select Xitron dealers and distributors in North America. Wide distribution is slated to begin in November. Xitron products are available through a network of OEMS, Distributors, Dealers, and System Integrators worldwide. Xitron RIPs and workflow solutions drive more than 150 output devices ranging from black and white and color proofers, to film imagesetters and the latest in CTP and direct-to-press systems. With shipments of more than 14,000 RIPs, Xitron is the largest independent provider of RIPs in the market. For more information about Xitron products, visit Xitron on the web at www.xitron.com.
