IRVINE, Calif. & FOSTER CITY, Calif.--Sept. 20, 2006-- Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (TABS) and EFI, the world leader in digital controllers, superwide format printers and inks and print management solutions, today launched the next-generation, industry-leading embedded Fiery server designed for the e-STUDIO(TM) 2500c/3500c/3510c color multifunction products (MFPs). The new Fiery server, featuring EFI's advanced office accelerator technology, is ideal for TABS' customers who are heavy users of PDF and Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint) in demanding corporate and creative color environments. With innovative new features, including EFI ColorWise, EFI WebTools(TM) and LDAP support, as well as tight integration with several new proprietary Toshiba technologies, the Fiery server designed for the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c delivers high productivity, flexibility and security, and exceptional color. "Working with EFI supports TABS' commitment toward anticipating the needs and demands of our color-intensive customers," said Kay Fernandez, director, Product and Solutions Marketing, TABS. "The new Fiery server designed for our recently launched e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c color MFPs provides our customers with greater color management tools, productivity and security -- improving their bottom line and reinforcing TABS as a valued business partner to our customers." Highlights of the Fiery server designed for the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c include: Brilliant, Consistent Color "Out of the Box" The new embedded Fiery server supports the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c's ability to produce true 600 x 600 dpi output. In designing the embedded Fiery server for corporate use, EFI recognized the importance of ease-of-use to achieve consistent, professional-level color. The embedded Fiery server features ColorWise, the EFI in-RIP color management system that delivers consistent color across applications, computer platforms, color spaces and color file formats. ColorWise includes automated functionality and expert controls for managing color, productivity and automating color document workflow. The EFI Color Profiler is an available option to maintain finer control over color and print quality. In order to ensure consistent corporate colors, the optional Spot-On feature measures and manages spot color. Increased Productivity The embedded Fiery server includes Fiery Smart RIP technology, which ensures the fastest possible processing speeds for all hardware configurations. Fiery Smart RIP features intelligent processing, which efficiently utilizes the latest hardware to significantly accelerate productivity in demanding corporate and creative color environments -- including dramatically enhanced print speeds for Microsoft Office and Adobe applications. Further improving productivity in the corporate environment, the Native Document Conversion feature enables users to print Word/Excel/PowerPoint documents via e-mail without a printer driver. The optional EFI Hot Folders and Virtual Printers are particularly beneficial for repetitive workflows as they increase printing automation. The Fiery server for the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c also features the recently launched EFI Desktop SE (standard) and EFI Desktop Professional (optional). These powerful Fiery solutions for the corporate environment allow users to instantly organize, manage, find and share all paper and digital documents. Files stored on the desktop, network or on the user's printer can be easily viewed, managed and shared in PDF format with anyone, anywhere, using a simple drag-and-drop operation. Both solutions provide easy-to-use scanning, image enhancement and PDF/document management capabilities. EFI Desktop Professional offers additional features, including built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which translates scanned text into machine-editable text, and All-in-One Search(TM), a robust desktop search and indexing engine tightly integrated with OCR to enable users to easily find any document, scanned and digital, using a single keyword or phrase. Robust Security EFI Fiery technology is an open architecture and adheres to industry standard certification policies and network authentication protocols. With extensive security features designed to eliminate unauthorized operation and reduce costs and down-time, the Fiery server for the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c is readily accepted by any enterprise's most critical MIS/IT organizations and the government. The Fiery server incorporates strong security utilities, ranging from limiting who has access to the controller -- with Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) Filtering support, Port Blocking and LDAP Authentication -- to securing the data itself with SNMP V3 (Simple Network Management Protocol, Version 3) and SSL (Secure Socket Layer) support, Certificate Management, Encryption of Critical Information and the optional Secure Erase feature, which removes all traces of job data from the Fiery hard disk drive. Enhanced Flexibility The Fiery server for the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c includes Fiery NetWise(TM), which features an innovative design that helps ensure easy connectivity and seamless integration into any network environment. Fiery NetWise includes "peer-to-peer" (SMB) support for Windows workstation printing and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) support for directory or global address book access. The embedded Fiery server also features IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) support and can be readily installed into IPv6 environments. A requirement for government sites, IPv6 expands on the current Internet Protocol standard, offering better addressing, security and other features to support large worldwide networks. And, with EFI WebTools(TM), users can administer the Fiery server and conveniently print documents through any Java-enabled browser, as well as install printer drivers and access Fiery utilities from their desktop. "The Fiery designed for the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c strengthens our relationship with TABS as they execute their most prolific year of product introductions and make the latest-generation embedded Fiery server, with industry-leading precision color, consistent high quality output and workflow innovation, available to their customers," said Jim Kano, worldwide vice president, OEM Sales, EFI. "The powerful embedded Fiery server delivers exceptional value and makes the e-STUDIO2500c/3500c/3510c ideal for TABS customers in graphics-intensive corporate and creative color environments." TABS also recently selected EFI Digital StoreFront(TM) (DSF) as its preferred web-to-print solution. Designed for customers ranging from small CRD operations to large commercial print shops, DSF is EFI's web-to-print platform providing a digital on-ramp for customers to connect with their preferred printer. Availability EFI solutions, including the Fiery embedded server and Digital StoreFront, designed for TABS customers, are available through TABS' nationwide dealer locations. The Fiery server designed for the e-STUDIO3510c MFP will ship in early Q4.
