U.S. Army's Deployable Print Center Returns To Graph Expo And Converting Expo

Press release from the issuing company

September 20, 2006 -- The Deployable Print Production Center (DPPC) enables the United States Army to bring fast, high quality color printing practically to the front lines of military operations around the world, so it can communicate quickly with civilian populations in its areas of action. The DPPC has been deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and other theaters, and will be making a special demonstration appearance this October on the show floor at GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO in Chicago. It's a return engagement for one of the most popular displays of GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO 2004 and PRINT 05 & CONVERTINGSM 05. The print production center is equipped with a high speed PC-based graphics platform, high quality color scanner, color laser printers, a high speed color duplicator, paper cutter, and related systems. It can generate more than 90,000 single-color leaflets in 24 hours. The leaflets can be used for such purposes as advising civilian populations of ongoing military operations and encouraging their cooperation. Prepress, printing and finishing operations take place in a transportable shelter, and the entire operation can be loaded onto a trailer towed by a Humvee vehicle. The press, computers and other components are all “hardened” to stand up to transportation and rugged field conditions. DPPC is part of the Army's Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command. The display at GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO will occupy 1,600 square feet, with military personnel on hand to run live print jobs during show hours. GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO takes place October 15-18, 2006 in the South Hall of McCormick Place. It will be the largest national graphic communications and converting event since 2000, with nearly 440,000 square feet of displays by more than 600 companies. In addition to exhibits, the event offers an extensive educational program and a variety of special events for visitors.
