Newest Generation EFI Mac Workflow Gives Greater Competitive Edge to Leading Design Firm

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, Calif. – Sept. 19, 2006 – EFI, the world leader in digital controllers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, today announced that top Montreal-based advertising and graphic design firm D-Zign S.A.B. has achieved new levels of speed, image quality, color matching, consistency, and reliability with the EFI Splash RPX-i workflow solution. Designed for graphic arts and light production environments, Splash RPX-i is the Mac OS X-based workflow solution option for the EFI Fiery Network Controller driving Xerox Corporation's award-winning 40-ppm DocuColor 240 and 50-ppm DocuColor 250 color multifunction systems. D-Zign S.A.B. strives to stay at the forefront of technology in order to better serve its clients and win new business; upgrading to EFI Splash RPX-i and the DocuColor 240 has given D-Zign S.A.B a greater competitive edge. D-Zign S.A.B. reports that Splash RPX-I enables them to offer the highest level of color quality and reliability as well as incredibly fast turnaround time to their global clients, who are some of the best known in the consumer products and healthcare industries. D-Zign S.A.B. relies on Splash RPX-I to design and manage packaging and advertising for such clients as The Procter & Gamble Company, Schering Inc, Coty Canada and Beiersdorf Canada Inc., to support many of its lines including NIVEA, and Elastoplast. According to D-Zign Founder and President Steve Buist, “The client reaction has been phenomenal. The quality and intensity of the colors are amazing, especially dark solid colors. Nivea, for example, uses dark solid blues that are difficult to achieve with digital printing, but with the Splash RPX-i, the output looks almost like offset.” In fact, D-Zign has been able to provide to printing partners, including Transcontinental, one of the world's largest printers, proofs generated by Splash RPX-i and the DocuColor 240 so close to the final desired press output that he no longer needs to be present at press checks. Buist said, “This has made a huge difference in my personal productivity. The gamut of colors we can produce with Splash RPX-i is excellent—we simply tell the printer to produce the job with no variation from the proof. I never have to wait around the pressroom at all hours for a press check.” Stephen Holtzman, the firm's chief technology officer added, “Splash RPX-i delivers improved productivity, which is critically important to us. Ultimately, it's what drives customer satisfaction.” Continually engaging with customers is an EFI business tenet. “Partnering with D-Zign S.A.B and exchanging information helps us better understand our customers' evolving challenges and needs in order to deliver the innovative solutions that enable them to achieve their full business potential,” said Mehran Farimani, senior vice president and general manager, Fiery products, EFI. “It's gratifying to know that Splash RPX-i so significantly contributes to D-Zign's success.” Regarding the relationship, Buist comments, “I wish we had other partners as conscientious about quality and customer service as EFI.” The EFI Splash RPX-i workflow solution is the option for the Fiery Network Controller driving the Xerox DocuColor 240/250 that empowers customers like D-Zign S.A.B. with color management, document management and production features to meet the precision printing needs of their most demanding creative assignments.
