Oce helps productivity flow for Anglian Water

Press release from the issuing company

Brentwood, Essex – August 25, 2006 – Oce, one of the world's leading digital printing solutions providers, is helping Anglian Water to maintain its existing water and sewerage network and meet the growing demands for new water supplies and waste water treatment facilities as part of a£1.4 billion investment. Anglian Water, one of the leading providers of water and wastewater services in the UK, has increased print productivity by at least 60% in its CAD department as a result of a £15k investment in two award-winning Océ TCS400 wide format printing systems at its premises in Thorpe Wood, Peterborough. The company's strategic five-year investment plan, known as AMP4, will deliver an improved infrastructure for its six million industrial, commercial and domestic customers in Eastern England. An Alliance of several companies including Anglian Water is designing and delivering a £750m Capital Programme from Anglian Water's offices in Peterborough. In order to handle the increase of documents and plans produced at this location, the CAD department has increased from eight full-time employees to around 30, including Alliance Partners. This required an investment in leading technology to cope with the extra demand on the printers. In the last 12 months, Anglian Water has supported AW Engineering and all of its Alliance Partners in producing all project drawings and plans for the majority of the Capital Programme using the two Océ TCS400 printers. Simon Hewitt, Senior CAD Engineer, Anglian Water, said: “The successful delivery of the AMP4 programme is business critical and we have set challenging efficiency targets to keep costs down for our customers. The CAD department plays an important role in the Capital Programme delivery and it would have been impossible for our previous printing solution to cope with the extra workload generated, but the Océ TCS400 printers cope easily. “We looked at a range of companies to supply the wide-format printers, and we agreed to go with the package that we thought would give the best whole life cost. Océ has proved us right. As well as providing a reliable, fast, high quality and cost effective printer, the sales and after-sales service provided were exceptional. We are confident the printers will allow the CAD department to fulfil its role in the AMP4 programme.” The TCS400 is designed to make wide format colour printing easy and productive. Available as a one or two roll system, the TCS400 media handling capabilities are unmatched in the market. Automatic roll switching reduces the number of roll changes and enables a variety of media types and widths to be at your disposal. DIN-formats are supported, which saves time on trimming and minimises operator intervention. The colour print system is equipped with the Océ Power Logic Controller (PLC), a powerful dedicated controller that operates as an integral part of a user's local network enabling the TCS400 to receive and process multiple files whilst printing. In addition, the PLC has a host of innovative software tools to manage and control workflow, and the multi-roll printing system can be upgraded to add colour copying and scan to file applications. Wilbert Verheyen, Strategic Business Unit Director for Wide Format Printing Systems at Océ UK, said: “We are confident the TCS400 printers will help Anglian Water deliver all its printing requirements for the AMP4 programme using the TCS400 printers. The users will particularly benefit from the Océ Power Logic controller, which allows simultaneous, multi-user printing to be sent from any location.
