Heidelberg To Help Printers "Connect For Success" With Its Technology Leadership At 2006 Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga., August 28, 2006 – Heidelberg will help printers “Connect for Success” at the 2006 Graph Expo, where the print media industry leader will showcase the largest assortment of Graphic Arts technology and innovation at the show. Heidelberg will demonstrate the latest technologies in prepress, press, postpress and workflow with solutions for printers of all sizes at Booth # 1200 at the tradeshow, which is being held in Chicago at McCormick Place on Oct. 15 – 18, 2006. “To succeed in today's marketplace, printers must stay connected – to the latest technologies, solutions and expertise that will drive future growth in our industry and on their shop floors,” said Jim Dunn, president, Heidelberg USA. “Heidelberg has a long-standing history of technology leadership. The solutions that you will see in the Heidelberg booth at Graph Expo demonstrate our commitment to delivering the right resources to give printers a competitive edge in the marketplace.” Among the new technologies that Heidelberg will demonstrate at Graph Expo are the following: •Speedmaster 52 with an Anicolor Inking Unit: For the first time in the U.S., Heidelberg will show the world's first sheetfed offset press with a zoneless short inking unit and a dampening system. A cost-effective solution for its ability to minimize start-up waste and reduce makeready times, the Anicolor Inking Unit provides premium-quality printing with consistent and even inking. Anicolor requires no special consumables, ensuring that it will integrate seamlessly into any shop's environment. •Prinect Inpress Control: Making its U.S. debut at Graph Expo, Heidelberg's new Prinect Inpress Control ensures faster makeready with significantly less paper waste and consistently high quality by measuring color spectro-photometrically and register in the color control bar while the press is running at top speed. Prinect Inpress Control is being shown on the Speedmaster CD 74 at the show. •Heidelberg systemservice offerings: The new Heidelberg Partner Program allows customers to select from a full-service plan or build a custom service package that suits specific business needs. Customers can choose any combination of 20 services to fit their needs, allowing them the freedom and flexibility to add a service when business conditions require. •Speedmaster CD 74 with 18,000 iph: The Speedmaster CD 74 six-color press with coater and extended delivery shown at Graph Expo features the new Peak Performance Package enabling real production speeds of up to 18,000 iph on the widest range of substrates. Innovations include the newly developed suction head and new automatic pile lifting control system, as well as a new dynamic sheet break that contributes to a perfectly aligned pile at these impressive speeds. •New Stitchmaster ST 450 saddlestitcher: The new Stitchmaster ST 450 saddlestitcher boasts high levels of automation, flexibility, and productivity. A whole range of applications are possible as the machine can be specifically adapted to a particular product. The Stitchmaster ST 450 features mobile feeders fitted with servo drives, which can be positioned at any point on either side of the saddle chain. It combines high performance with reliable quality, offering a capacity of 14,000 cycles per hour. •Speedmaster CD 102: The Speedmaster CD 102 now offers a highly affordable, entry-level configuration that makes this legendary press a scalable option for more customers than ever before. The press shown is a six-color with coating unit and extended delivery. •Speedmaster XL 105: The flagship Speedmaster XL 105, shown as an eight-color model with coating unit and extended delivery, will once again prove what its users state: fast makereadies and real production speeds of up to 18,000 iph result in significantly increased net productivity. And all at benchmark-setting print quality levels. In addition to these new offerings, Heidelberg will showcase a broad range of equipment from its Speedmaster CD 102 for both commercial and packaging applications to a host of solutions for small business printers. The Heidelberg booth will include four primary solution areas: Commercial Print Solutions; Packaging Solutions; Prinect Solutions and Small Business Solutions. Each of the four primary solution areas will include “expert spots,” or special presentation areas where attendees can gain an in-depth view of product features and benefits and hear about technologies and solutions available to today's printers. There also will be additional expert spots focused on Postpress and Anicolor Technology. In the Small Business section of the booth, printers can view a range of prepress, press and postpress solutions designed specifically for the small business owner. Prinect workflow solutions including a newly designed MetaDimension Workflow together with proofing, color management and computer-to-plate solutions for two-up format printers will be demonstrated throughout the show. Booth visitors also can learn more about Heidelberg's recently introduced Printers Advantage Program, which is designed to assist small business printers with information and business solutions to help them solve problems unique to small business enterprises. Mid-sized and large commercial and packaging printers also will find many solutions for their business needs at the Heidelberg booth. From sophisticated platesetters and presses for the widest range of commercial and packaging applications to highly automated bindery solutions that easily can be integrated into the digital workflow, Heidelberg offers a wide range of commercial print solutions. On the packaging side, Heidelberg's offerings span the gamut from equipment that produces simple folding boxes to premium-quality finished cartons for luxury goods. Customizable equipment ensures that companies have the right solutions for their specific needs to deliver maximum productivity.
