Xerox Introduces Industry's Lightest Digital Coated Paper

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Sept. 5, 2006-- Xerox Corporation's coated paper line has shed some pounds, with its newest family member weighing in at a mere 60 lb. text - 25 percent lighter than the standard coated paper grade. This 60 lb. text (90gsm) addition to the Xerox Digital Color Select Gloss product line is the industry's lightest-weight paper for high-volume digital color printing, delivering 20 percent more pages per inch than the next lightest digital coated paper on the market. Lighter paper is used to produce magazine pages, marketing brochures, catalogs and children's books, which were often done on offset presses. Now print providers can print these materials digitally, saving their customers money by printing only what they need and offering documents that have the same look and feel as offset. "Xerox's proprietary technology and coated paper portfolio has truly complemented the rise in short-run, digital color printing, resulting in a strong double-digit increase in Xerox coated paper sales year over year," said Steve Simpson, vice president, Xerox Supplies Business Group. "With more than 70 choices in coated papers, Xerox has become a 'one-stop shop' for a customer's digital coated paper needs." Scientists at the Xerox Media and Compatibles Technology Center are the first to develop this "light as a feather" and super-smooth paper, specifically engineered to deliver top performance in high-speed digital color systems such as the Xerox iGen3 90 and 110 Digital Production Presses. The new paper features a 90 brightness and a blue-white shade - enabling rich, sharp, high-quality color images. The entire Digital Color Select Gloss line has an exclusive Xerox coating for superior smoothness and toner adhesion. In addition to the iGen3 digital presses, Xerox Digital Color Select Gloss 60 lb. text runs on Xerox's DocuColor 8000, 7000, 5000, 6060, 2060 and 2045 digital presses. The product is offered in 17" x 11" and 18" x 12" sizes. The 60 lb. text paper and the entire Xerox Digital Color Select Gloss product line are available in North America from Xerox's direct sales force, authorized resellers and at www.xerox.com/tr/supplies.
