Quark announces that Meadows Publishing Solutions has released XTensions software for QuarkXPress 7

Press release from the issuing company

DENVER - August 15, 2006 - Quark Inc. announced today that Meadows Publishing Solutions, a leading developer of XTensions software for QuarkXPress, has released new XTensions software to support QuarkXPress 7. The DesignMerge XTensions module is now available to be compatible with QuarkXPress 7, the latest release of Quark’s flagship product. DesignMerge is a suite of software modules that allows users to quickly and easily create variable-data output from QuarkXPress projects. Each copy of a printed document can be personalized—changing items such as name, address, and graphics—and the entire process is database-driven, flexible, and easy to use. The XTensions module is touted by designers for its many unique production-oriented features, including the CopyFit feature, which automatically fits text into the space allotted for it, and the DesignMerge Rules feature, which provides the ability to perform specific layout actions based on the contents of one or more database fields. Users can publish QuarkXPress projects created with DesignMerge directly to any PostScript device, and to achieve high-performance output, users can apply the new Personalized Print Markup Language (PPML) formatting feature in QuarkXPress 7. “We are eager to develop our tools to take advantage of the innovative features built in to QuarkXPress 7,” said John Kriho, president of Meadows Publishing Solutions. “Variable-data publishing is becoming increasingly popular with publishers and marketers. The DesignMerge tools provide value for data-publishing professionals across all of Quark’s markets, including the catalog, retail, and corporate publishing segments.” “Working with Meadows to ensure the timely release of their XTensions modules for QuarkXPress 7 is very important to Quark,” said Richard Pasewark, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Americas, for Quark. “It is imperative that our XTensions partners develop their software so that QuarkXPress 7 users can fully utilize their suite of productivity-enhancing products, and we are thrilled that the first Meadows tool is out of the gate.”
