GMG Americas appoints Sherwood Wong Western US Channel Manager

Press release from the issuing company

Norwell, MA, USA (August 9, 2006) – GMG Americas, the US-based office of GMG, supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, announces that Sherwood Wong, an industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience in the graphic arts and printing industry, has joined the company as Western US Channel Manager. Sherwood will be in charge of developing and managing dealer channels, providing sales, marketing and training support programs, throughout the Western US. Sherwood is an experienced sales manager of digital imaging and color reproduction equipment, well known in the graphic arts community in the Western United States. He has built and maintained strong distribution networks, and has worked with prominent national accounts. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University with a major in Printing Technology and Management, Wong has excellent technical competency in systems workflow and color management. Sherwood joins GMG from ICS, where he was director of sales for the Western Region, evangelizing the advantages of color accurate monitor proofing to agencies, national accounts, commercial printers and trade shops in the thirteen western states. He also established relationships and trained an exclusive dealer network to promote the company’s evolving technology. Previously, Wong worked at Agfa Corporation in a number of roles in the western states, including packaging account manager, responsible for the development and servicing of corrugated and folding carton printers, envelope manufacturers, and tag and label printers; dealer development manager, challenged with the task of solidifying and expanding dealer representation of Agfa consumable and electronics products with dealers; and CTP Specialist, responsible for developing customer awareness of Agfa’s new CTP products and supporting prepress technologies. As district sales manager at Polaroid Corporation, Sherwood built sales of a new digital halftone proofing process introduced by Polaroid to replace conventional analog proofing processes. He has also held roles in a number of other well-known industry companies, including Gerber Systems, Indigo America, E.I. duPont, Hell Graphics, and Screen America. At GMG Americas, Wong will be responsible for developing and managing GMG Americas’ channels of distribution in the western States. In cooperation with dealers, he will be providing direct selling at national accounts, and supporting sales through the company’s dealer channels. Wong will also be supporting the dealer sales organizations, training regional and local account personnel, and helping them position and sell GMG products. “Sherwood should be a tremendous asset for GMG Americas. He has strong technical knowledge of the requirements for color proofing and management, and how it fits into a workflow. He has the expertise to effectively communicate the benefits of GMG ColorProof, and the entire GMG product family to resellers and customers,” notes Jim Summers, president of GMG Americas. “Just as important, Sherwood has strong ties to the printing and publishing community in the west. We expect that he will be able to replicate his past efforts and help build a strong channel network of resellers for GMG. We look forward to working with him.”
