QuarkXPress 7 Universal implementation a success at GA Communications

Press release from the issuing company

DENVER - August 8, 2006 - Quark Inc. announced today that GA Communications, a marketing and advertising company serving clients in the large retail industry, has upgraded to the Universal version of QuarkXPress 7 on the new Intel-based Macs. QuarkXPress, the first major design and publishing tool to be released as a Universal application, was built to run at peak performance on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs. As a dedicated QuarkXPress user for more than 15 years, GA Communications was an early adopter of QuarkXPress 7 and has been using the software in production since May of this year. After testing the beta software, GA communications decided to upgrade to QuarkXPress 7 based on the new product features and the availability of the native Universal version of QuarkXPress 7, which runs natively as a Universal application on the new Intel Core Duo processor-based Macintosh computers. At the cusp of fast-paced technology upgrades, GA Communications has already migrated 100% of its Mac hardware at its Pittsburgh office and has plans to complete the QuarkXPress 7 Universal implementation by the end of the year. Producing weekly inserts, flyers, and other print advertising for many Fortune 500 retail clients, the GA Communications page-building automation software ADsemblyPagebuilder has been running on the new Intel-based Macs in conjunction with the Universal version of QuarkXPress 7. GA Communications has already seen increased performance of the automated process provided by ADsembly that populates QuarkXPress 7 templates, thus greatly increasing production efficiencies. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to use this incredible version of QuarkXPress on the new Intel Macs,” said Andrew Olson, Pittsburgh system supervisor at GA Communications. “The application is very responsive to the artists, no matter how complex the process, and has drastically increased productivity. An artist can work with the program right out of the box and learn the new features as they go without slowing down production.” “As the first design and publishing tool to run as a Universal application, we are pleased to provide our customers with feature-rich software that performs at optimal levels that is already receiving critical acclaim within the industry,” said Richard Pasewark, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Americas, for Quark. “GA Communications has put QuarkXPress 7 through rigorous testing already and has confirmed the speed and agility of the Universal application in production runs.” QuarkXPress 7 is the latest version of the design and publishing software that transforms creative communications by empowering customers to achieve their design, production, and collaboration goals. This powerful upgrade combines more design features with job-driven production capabilities in a collaborative environment, delivering faster creative development and high-quality print production. QuarkXPress 7 is shipping now and is available through Quark resellers and partners worldwide as well as the Quark online store at $749 for new users and $249 to upgrade. The Universal version of QuarkXPress 7 is available at no additional cost for Mac users of QuarkXPress 7.
