Westamerica Graphics Installs Sixth Komori Press

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, July 20, 2006 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Westamerica Graphics, a commercial printing company based in Foothill Ranch, California has recently installed a six-color Lithrone S40 (LS640). This is the sixth Komori press for Westamerica, an award-winning 29-year old firm that serves a large, diverse customer base throughout Southern California. Because Westamerica continues to grow its sheetfed business at such a rapid rate and is committed to creating value-added partnerships with its clients, the flexibility of the LS640 is making it possible for the company to readily meet increased client demands for short-turnaround, high-quality four-, five- and six-color print applications. "One of our favorite phrases here is 'Home of the Friendly Press Check' and our Komori presses make it possible to deliver on that promise," said Doug Grant, president of Westamerica. "Our new Komori lets us kick that promise up another notch due to its enhanced automation that allows for amazingly quick changeovers. This press also brings us more technology to take advantage of which is important as the bulk of what we print today are custom jobs. It allows us the flexibility to bounce back and forth between highly different applications, moving from 60# text, to 100# cover, from text papers, to board grades without losing time. Because of the automated features, our makeready times have been cut by one-third and we are still improving. We started early in our business with Komori and have received such great service, we consider them like family. But while it has been a long and strong relationship, Komori does not take us for granted. We've had the same rep for years and the service team is excellent." In addition to its automated capabilities that provide a faster time to market, additional key drivers in the selection of the LS640 included its ease of use and color management system. Due to the intuitive technology of the press, operators can easily be cross-trained, enhancing their efficiency and making it possible to meet the demands of the company's short-run, fast-turnaround environment. Westamerica prints a large amount of custom pieces for design and ad agencies and companies in the pharmaceutical, financial and insurance industries, all requiring high quality color. The LS640 gets to color and into register fast and offers the ability to do multicolor straight printing and hybrid print jobs without compromising on performance or print quality. "The significant growth of Westamerica is due in large part to a culture that focuses on a positive customer experience, which is critical in today's competitive environment," said Paul Peyrebrune, vice president of sales for Komori's Western Region. "Komori espouses this culture as well and developed the Lithrone S40 expressly for customer-driven operations such as Westamerica. We are proud of our long association with this fine company."
