The Printing Association of Florida Names George Ryan as President and CEO

Press release from the issuing company

Orlando, Florida– July 17, 2006 — The Printing Association of Florida (PAF) today announced that George Ryan, executive vice president and COO, PIA/GATF, has accepted the position of president and CEO for the Florida association. Mr. Ryan will take over the position from Michael Streibig, president and CEO, who announced his retirement plans in March of 2006. Ryan will begin his leadership role with The Printing Association of Florida in October, working closely with Streibig to ensure a smooth transition until the end of the year. “While I regret the loss of one of my senior staff members, George is an ideal candidate to fill Mike’s shoes,” said Michael Makin, president and CEO of the PIA/GATF. “I wish him great success with his new responsibilities and look forward to working with him in this new capacity.” Prior to his accepting his position with the Printing Association of Florida, George Ryan was most recently the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the PIA/GATF and president from 1994 to 2003 of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation until its consolidation with the PIA. From 1986 to 1994, Ryan held a number of senior positions with the Rochester Institute of Technology, including director of operations, associate dean for training and director of the school for printing management. During his tenure, he implemented technology and re-training programs for the faculty, spearheaded the development of a state-of-art curriculum and obtained equipment donations worth $3 million. In addition, as associate dean, he managed $10 million training division, reorganized the division to reflect the academic mission of the university, while returning the division to profitability. As director of operations of academic affairs, Ryan was responsible for finance and operations of a $75 million division as well as program justification and research oversight. George Ryan has a B.S. degree in accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology, College of Business, in addition to being a CPA. “While I’m excited to take over the reigns of one of the most successful PIA/GATF affiliates, it will be difficult to leave my staff, peers and the leadership of the PIA/GATF,” said George Ryan, incoming president and CEO. “Mike Streibig’s contribution to Florida’s printing and graphic arts industry has been significant and his 14 year position as president and CEO will be a hard act to follow.” The search for Michael Streibig’s successor began shortly after his retirement announcement in March of 2006 and was headed up by a CEO search committee co-chaired by Bill Maguire, current chair of the PAF board and president of Bindery of Jacksonville and Larry Kudeviz, PAF board member and CEO of The Genesis Group of Miami, Florida. “Our decision comes after an exhaustive search, review and interview process," echoed Maguire and Kudeviz. “ While we reviewed a number of exceptional candidates, George Ryan’s track record, industry knowledge and nationwide network makes him an outstanding choice.”
