Danka Debuts New Solutions From Alto Imaging Technologies

Press release from the issuing company

MIAMI, - Danka Business Systems PLC (NASDAQ: DANKY) featured in its Xplor booth the new UltraWare 2Å family of document imaging and information management solutions from Alto Imaging Technologies. The UltraWare suite of software applications easily integrates the hardware and software needed to capture, manipulate, store, retrieve and publish documents. Danka is the top reseller of UltraWare in the United States, and features UltraWare as part of its DankaWareÅ family of software solutions. "Document owners want more than 'print and copy' services," said Charlie Corr of CAP Ventures. "Increasingly, customers require complete document solutions. Service providers must supply and support a solution that handles all aspects of the document lifecycle from creation and compilation from multiple sources, to storage and distribution." "Danka is a leading supplier of comprehensive printing and publishing solutions," said Sam Errigo, Danka's vice president of digital marketing. "Alto Imaging software provides customers with the ability toperform document building, image editing and the creation and insertion of tabs, along with integrating scanned documents with electronic files." Hundreds of Customer Sites In the last the 18 months, Danka has installed Alto Imaging software at hundreds of customer sites, including Copy Solutions Inc., of Brentwood, Tenn., an independent print-for-pay provider owned by John Woodbury. Woodbury reports that the Danka printing solution, which consists of a Heidelberg DigimasterÅ 9110 imaging system and Alto Imaging software, offers tremendous gains in productivity and image quality. "We run a lot of manuals and other large corporate documents that involve scanning of hard copy originals," he said. "The Alto Imaging software equips us to move information around on the page, insert new content or graphics, and reformat an entire document before printing." Woodbury adds that the staff saves hours on every job because there is no need for manual cut and paste operations or hand collating. "Because all the originals are scanned and then edited, the entire document is produced and finished online." Understanding This Evolving Market Alto Imaging president Don Parker attributes Danka's success to its understanding of-and commitment to-this evolving market. "Danka has made the investment necessary to fulfill the needs of corporate customers with complex document and information management environments," said Parker. "Danka's field technical support personnel are exceptionally well-trained and can accurately configure solutions that solve each company's business objectives." New UltraWare 2 Features The new version of UltraWare features upgrades to every application in the product suite. Most notable are: An enhanced hierarchical database for managing digital libraries. The database equips companies to better track and organize information with customizable fields that are meaningful to their businesses. Individual files can be grouped in bundles or collections-the equivalent of file folders and file drawers-to promote easy access to related information. Users can interact with the document database using a friendly, convenient web browser interface. This interface gives remote users access to distributed information and distributing printing networks. In addition, costs are reduced because no additional licensing or software is necessary. Danka, as a value-added distributor, creates flexible and affordable solutions for its customers by integrating hardware and software from third parties with open-architecture printing systems. The Alto Imaging software suite is part of its DankaWare portfolio, which includes solutions based on agreements with a host of other companies.
