Mitsubishi Imaging And Ecrm Announce Master Distribution For Polyester Ctp Platesetters

TEWKSBURY, MA -- JUNE 7, 2006 -- ECRM Inc., and Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc. announced today that Mitsubishi Imaging will continue to be the Master Distributor for the DPX family of polyester platesetters. Mitsubishi Imaging has been the distributor of the DPX product line in North America for over eight years. On April 28th, ECRM entered into an agreement to acquire the Esko Production Polyester CTP product line and has assumed the sale of the products, the relevant patents and all service and spare part obligations going forward. This includes the manufacture and sale of DPX 4, DPX System, DPX Lite, WorkMates, and all associated software products, consumables, spare parts, and related products. It is estimated that there are over 6,000 Polyester CTP platesetters in the field today and that DPX machines represents over 70% of these installs. For more information, visit www.ecrm.com The Market for Polyester CTP According to State Street Consultants, total CTP sales for all non-metal or Polyester CTP systems in the US and Canada in 2005 were estimated to be 750 units, and an additional 1300 units for metal CTP systems. Using these figures, Polyester CTP system sales represent 36% of the market. And according to PRIMIR’s “The Life Cycle of the Analog and Digital Lithographic Printing Plate” 2005 study, non-metal CTP sales in the US and Canada are projected to increase by an average of 9.5% through the year 2010. The majority of these sales (90.9%) are projected to come from the commercial printer 1-19 segment [sales of $150,000 to $2.8 million]. The buyers in this segment are expected to be mostly first-time buyers that will purchase both workflow and CTP. Using fiber optic cables to transmit directly into the optics and high-speed spinner, it can output 38 745mm x 605mm (23.8” x 29.3”) plates per hour at 1200 dpi (27 plates per hour at 2540 dpi) at resolutions between 1200 and 3000 dpi; - The DPX System features an internal vacuum drum system with a built-in 220mm and 425mm open punch for producing high-quality and precisely-registered plates for four-color production in sizes ranging from 250mm x 250mm to 550mm x 460mm and resolutions from 900 to 3600 dpi; - The DPX Lite is a 2-up, automatic CTP polyester-plate system, producing imaged, processed, punched, dried and cut-to-size press-ready plates at 340mm x 550mm (13.3” x 21.6”). Using internal-drum technology, a built-in 220mm open punch, and a temperature-controlled built-in processor, DPX Lite exposes at resolutions between 900 and 3600dpi; - The WorkMates software is a suite of high-performing modules including a RIP, automated PDF creation, Trapping, Color Management, Screening and Proofing, as well as In-RIP CIP 3 generation, Imposition, and Windows driver-based proofing.
