Muller Martini Diamant Bookline delivers many operational benefits to BookMasters, Inc.

Press release from the issuing company

October 24, 2007 -- The installation of a Muller Martini Diamant 30 hardcover book manufacturing system is bringing important advantages to BookMasters, Inc., a growing manufacturer of black & white and color books located in Ashland, Ohio.  "The Diamant 30 was chosen for its quality product capabilities, fast make-ready and expandable, modular design," says Raymond F. Sevin, President of BookMasters.  "This will give us better control over our case binding schedules and will service both our offset and digital divisions."
Muller Martini, an industry pacesetter in equipment and workflow solutions for hardcover production, has engineered state-of-the-art technology into the versatile Diamant Bookline.  Standard case-bound hardcover books, as well as books with integral full-flap or flexible plastic covers, books with sealing flaps, and books with gilt edges, can all be produced on the Diamant and all at the highest speeds possible with exceptional quality.
The Diamant 30 enables rapid set-ups and changeovers due to a high degree of automation provided by AMRYS (Automatic Make-Ready System) technology.  Operators can set job parameters almost instantly with outstanding precision on a touchscreen via Diamants TeleCommander control system.  Data for the next job can be entered while another job is in production, saving valuable time.  Repeat jobs can also be set up quickly due to the automatic storage of all production data.  Furthermore, fine adjustments can be made during running production, virtually eliminating expensive downtime.
The Diamant Bookline offers the most efficient method of hardcover book manufacturing on the market today.  Complete inline production encompasses: automatic block feeding, endsheet tipping, gluing and back-gluing using the Muller Martini Collibri back-gluing machine; pressing with the Muller RPM spine pressing machine; trimming with the Merit S three-knife trimmer; rounding and backing and casing-in; fully automatic jacketing with protective covers using the Vesta jacketing machine; and the stacking of finished books with the BLSD book stacker.  The spines of incoming book blocks are warmed by infrared heaters so they can be perfectly rounded.  Products are also backed in two full wipes by the Diamant, ensuring a permanent and stable joint.  In addition to the Diamant 30 Bookline which runs at up to 2,100 cycles per hour, Muller Martini offers the Diamant 60 with a running speed of up to 3,600 c/hr.
BookMasters, which was established in 1973, produces books featuring a full range of binding styles.  The company provides a comprehensive spectrum of in-house services including: editorial, design and composition; color and black & white offset and digital printing; CD and DVD duplication; storage, warehousing and order fulfillment; and AtlasBooks Distribution which includes complete trade marketing and an online book store.
