Ghent PDF Workgroup Entering 5th Year with Newly-Elected Officers & Faster, Expanded Website

GHENT, BELGIUM – June 1, 2006 – The Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG), an international organization comprised of users, associations & developers building best practices for publishing workflows; today announces newly elected officers to its executive committee; as well as the launch of a streamlined, fast website at www.gwg.org. The latest version of the website has been completely revamped to address the needs of the growing population of GWG specification users and adopters. Since its inception 4 years ago, the GWG has been successful in designing, testing and publishing a number of specifications and resources to benefit the graphic arts community. David van Driessche, Documentation Officer for the Ghent PDF Workgroup, says, “Now that we have a full spectrum of specifications and resources in place, the website needed to reflect our progress. Thanks to input of our quite varied group of members and users, we were able to adjust the site to meet the needs of our visitors.” The redesigned site’s web structure is more user-friendly and graphically appealing than the previous site format. “One of the most important results of the redesign,” says van Driessche, “is that it will allow visitors to find what they need in a matter of seconds.” New Website Mirrors Organization’s Continued Growth GWG’s specifications have become the international benchmark for PDF quality assurance. Now, using the new website, users will be able to quickly obtain the free specifications and free Ghent Output Suite, as well as white papers and other easy-to-understand, important information from the GWG. New GWG Officers The GWG website was previewed at the organization’s general meeting in Paris, where additional highlights included the election of new executive committee members. The newly elected officers joining current GWG Chairman, Erwin Danis, Medibel+, and GWG Documentation Officer, David van Driessche, Gradual Software are: •Vice Chair: David Zwang, Zwang & Co. and IPA (re-elected) •Executive Director: Vicki Blake, Enfocus Software •Marketing Officer: Pascale Ginguené, SICOGIF •Technical Officer: Stephan Jaeggi, PDFX-ready and VSD •Treasurer: Andy Psarianos from PPA (officially elected later in a separate vote)
