C9600 from OKI Printing Solutions Achieves Anoto Printing Qualification

Press release from the issuing company

LONDON--May 30, 2006-- OKI Printing Solutions and Swedish technology company, Anoto, today jointly announced that OKI Printing Solutions' award-winning C9600 A3 color-page printer has successfully achieved Anoto printing qualification. The C9600 will play a crucial role in Anoto's world renowned technology for transmitting handwritten text into a digital format using a digital pen and paper. Earlier this year, the C5450 (in Europe) / C5400 (in the Americas) from OKI Printing Solutions was print qualified as the only office printer endorsed by Anoto for its software developer program. Now, with approval given to the C9600, business users can take advantage of a robust printing platform ideal for Print-on-Demand applications that negates the need to purchase large quantities of pre-printed forms. Anoto ensures all of its partners participate in a rigorous Print Qualification Program to confirm accurate toner and print quality. Its stringent testing has confirmed that the C9600 is the only printer in its class able to accurately print the Anoto dot pattern at a specified resolution and specification, without distorting the pattern by overlaying graphical parts printed in color. This is thanks to OKI Printing Solutions' market-leading digital LED technology that provides end-users with crisp text and graphics, high resolution and fast printing speeds. The Anoto Functionality, based on digital pen and paper technology, is currently being used by more than 100 partners worldwide to help meet the challenge of speeding up business processes in industries such as government, healthcare and logistics. Users of a digital pen with Anoto Functionality are able to capture anything they write in ink on standard paper printed with the Anoto dot pattern that is invisible to the eye but gives the paper a slightly off-white color. The information is then stored in the pen's memory, and when docking the pen the information is transferred to a back-end system for filing or printing. The information can also be sent directly from the pen to a back-end system via Bluetooth. Dutch logistics company, bVa, demonstrates a straightforward and effective use of the Anoto Functionality by providing customers with the technology to sign waybills and shipping instructions with a Bluetooth-enabled digital pen. Truck drivers take the printed forms with them on their delivery route and the recipient signs with the digital pen. The signed waybill (including any notes) is then immediately sent to headquarters through the driver's mobile phone. Anoto Functionality greatly reduces the manual flow of paper and improves operational efficiencies allowing businesses to respond quickly to problems and significantly enhance customer service. The accelerated information exchange also allows for immediate invoicing, improving overall cash flow. Mikihiko Maeno, President and CEO for Oki Data Corporation says: "It is our belief that the Anoto Solution lies at the heart of the mobile workforce and is intrinsic to its success, particularly as more people (regardless of their occupation) demand new and sophisticated ways of working outside of the office. To ensure that the mobile workforce can take advantage of a modern, integrated solution, we have committed to working with Anoto to achieve qualification of more of our printers, with the C9600 the latest in our range to receive qualification. "We are confident that more of our digital LED range will be certified by the end of this year," he said. Orjan Johansson, CEO of Anoto says: "OKI Printing Solutions' unique LED technology provides Anoto's end customers with absolute accuracy and best in class print quality. We are very happy to give yet another OKI Printing Solutions printer the Anoto print qualification - this will give our customers even more flexibility to print information captured by digital pens enabled with Anoto Functionality."
