KBA Draws Large Crowds at PrintFest 2006 Seeking to Differentiate Themselves

Wednesday, May 24, 2006

Press release from the issuing company

KBA North America, a leading sheetfed offset press manufacturer based in Williston, Vt., drew huge crowds and stole the show at PrintFest 2006, a three-day southern California printing conference and expo. Held May 11-13 at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California, KBA sold three Genius 52 UV 20 inch presses on the show floor and gathered leads who are interested in purchasing KBA press models. Huge success “PrintFest 2006 was a huge success for KBA,” says Chris Travis, KBA technology manager. “Our booth was a magnet for attendees who were looking to grow their business. During the three days of the show, we produced live lenticular jobs on our KBA Genius 52 UV press for the attendees. It absolutely blew them away!” Travis noted that the majority of printers drawn to the show were from the California market, many of which were already in the two-color market and seeking to move into the four- and five-color press models. After seeing the press produce both conventional and lenticular jobs one day, the printers would return the following day with a check in hand to give to KBA as a deposit for the press. Lenticular jobs captured the most attention “We were the only press manufacturer at the show to demonstrate a small-footprint, one-man operation high-quality press that can print thin paper up to 32 pt. board stock as well as plastic and lenticular stock,” says Travis. “The Genius 52 UV five-color press is a model that can easily produce a printer’s every-day work as well as specialty jobs with high dollar amounts. Printers were amazed by the productivity, flexibility, quality, and efficiency of the press. With its ultra-short make-ready of less than 10 sheets – based on the Gravuflow keyless inking system - and make-ready times of less than 5 minutes, the Genius 52 UV press is the perfect tool for the short run commercial, packaging and specialty market!” Another highlight of the show for attendees was the vibrant, high quality print samples that KBA distributed from its 20-inch press model to its 64-inch large format press models.
