AutoStock Reinvents Inventory Management for Finished Goods and Printed Documents

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, NY, May 12, 2006 – WebCRD from Rochester Software Associates, Inc. automates ordering of inventory and print on demand documents from a catalog of items as well as supporting ad hoc order placement. In addition to being easy for customers to use, WebCRD enables print jobs to flow through a Print Center with minimal human intervention. Fewer touches mean lower cost and less opportunity for errors to be introduced. This increases efficiency, throughput and overall volume. For those items that are ordered via the catalog, but fulfilled using stocked inventory, an issue that often arises is that inventory of catalog items is depleted before the inventory manager is even aware of the issue. AutoStock, a new module for WebCRD, solves the challenges of having enough stock on hand by tracking inventory levels of finished goods in real time, and automatically notifying Inventory Managers of the need to replenish stock. WebCRD actually recommends the correct amount to order, and can create a closed-loop system of ordering and fulfillment of stock to predetermined levels. Operators can always view their production screen to see at-a-glance if the quantity of items on hand is sufficient. When supplies of catalog items start to run low, AutoStock signals that a reorder would be appropriate, and can place such an order with a single mouse click! When the quantity ordered exceeds inventory levels, an indicator informs the operator that there is not enough stock to fulfill current orders and a reorder is required to meet demand. Operators can also see if a replenishment request has already been generated for this inventory item, which can be either a one-click proactive user request or a system-generated automatic request. “WebCRD automated the ordering process for 5.000 agents around the country,” said Catherine Ciardi, Director, Document Services for Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. “Before we installed AutoStock, managing our inventory in a separate system meant lots of manual effort, and it was a challenge to get the counts to agree. With AutoStock, we've automated the tracking processes, and can be more proactive with less effort than ever before, which means people are doing more valuable work. We can't wait to get our other divisions using this system!” “AutoStock makes ordering and fulfillment of items from a single unified system managed by the Print Center a reality,” observed Dave Vanable, Director of WebCRD Business Development at RSA. “Now Print Center Managers can have peace of mind that orders will flow through the system without any holdups due to insufficient inventory of finished goods.” AutoStock delivers a closed-loop inventory management system for catalog and print on demand items, with automatic replenishment requests generated based on customer orders and pre-established rules. WebCRD's order splitting capability adds even more functionality, as jobs can be split into short-term and long-term deliverables. Combined with WebCRD's order interface, customers have a unified view for ordering an entire enterprise's products. A single order could comprise finished goods as well as print on demand jobs, with auto replenishment of both types of items. WebCRD with AutoStock is currently shipping and available from major printer vendors.
