Kodak Makes Document Archiving Easier, More Efficient with Added Features in New Versions of Software

Press release from the issuing company

PHILADELPHIA, May 16 -- Document archiving is becoming even easier and more efficient with new software for KODAK i9600 Series Writers. Customer feedback directly resulted in many of the changes in KODAK i9600 Application Software, Version 2. “When it comes to offering features and capabilities that will best meet our customers’ needs, we consult an authority—our customers,” said Robert Breslawski, IMAGELINK Product Manager, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group. “The new software addresses suggestions for maximizing film use, improving multi-roll processing, and enhanced language support to increase customer productivity and efficiency.” The new software, which will be available on all newly shipped KODAK i9600 Series Writers, will be easier to use by: •Requiring fewer steps in the write-to-film process. •Providing a friendlier user interface. An improved Active X software interface is more easily integrated with existing applications. •Adjustable dialog box. The size of the main screen can be adjusted. •Improving multi-roll processing. Header and trailer images now automatically appear on a job’s subsequent rolls. •Increasing support for international languages. Makes the file size to film capacity rate easier to determine by allowing for metric measurements. •Maximizing film use on each roll. Allows the operator to override settings to avoid putting a handful of lingering documents within a job onto a second roll. Operators can now get within one-to-two feet of the end of roll. An additional option provides the ability to write images on the entire width of the film, which is useful for larger images not requiring image marks. The Version 2 software will be available in early summer on new i9600 Series Writers or for purchase through Kodak’s channel partners. The U.S. list price is $6,000. Existing Version 1 software users can upgrade to Version 2 on applicable service contracts. Kodak will no longer support AWIS software for i9600 Series Writers as the software is being phased out. Another software version, the KODAK i7300 Scanner User Interface Software, Version 2.0, is set for release on or before June 1. This upgrade will add or change features including: •A check box below the Annotation Embedded check box on the Application Setup Output tab. When this check box is checked, the i7300 User Interface Software will fill in the area cut out with black instead of white. If the box is unchecked, the area will be filled in with white. •Auto Back threshold increased from 100K to 500K. This ensures that all back images will not be printed and/or saved. Annotation on displayed image or the printed/faxed/emailed copy. This is the case even if the image controls (such as brightness or sharpening) are changed. •Annotation downloaded to the i7300 Scanner is applied to front and back of a duplex image. This annotation becomes part of the electronic image and will be printed/faxed/emailed or sent to the Image Server if the associated CAR commands are sent along with the annotation.
