IKEA, large print buyer, proofs with GMG

Press release from the issuing company

Tuebingen (May 18, 2006) - GMG, supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, has succeeded in acquiring Inter IKEA Systems, the world's largest buyer of print products, as a customer. In 2006 alone, IKEA will produce 173 million catalogs and 650 million other publications - and the trend is on the increase. The catalogs are available in 34 countries. For the production operation now starting - the 2007 IKEA Catalog - IKEA and its prepress and printing partners throughout the world will be using GMG ColorProof as their color management and proofing solution. IKEA did not make light of the decision, first exhaustively testing and evaluating the solutions available on the market. GMG ColorProof and the Epson proofers using the UltraChrome K3 ink technology were identified by IKEA as being the color management and proofing solution that is best capable of guaranteeing worldwide compliance with the exacting IKEA standard - which was defined jointly by IKEA and GMG - and that can also be used to create the highest-quality profiles. The results obtained by Inter IKEA Systems with the GMG products in regular production since the beginning of this year were noted with great satisfaction by the responsible IKEA managers, thus confirming the decision in favor of GMG. "IKEA is a tremendously important customer for GMG, since the company is known for its very tough demands on quality. We are delighted that IKEA decided in favor of GMG, and that we were very quickly able to prove in the start-up phase that the GMG color management and proofing solution does justice to the demanding requirements in everyday practice," says Robert Weihing, Managing Director of GMG GmbH & Co. KG. Jawdatt Mawassii, Vice President Sales and Business Development at GMG and decisively involved in acquiring IKEA as a customer, adds that an intensive partnership has been begun with IKEA that goes far beyond a normal customer relationship. The common goal of the partners is to intensify and establish standards.
