HP Showcases Digital Presses, Printers and Programs to Help Graphics Professionals at On Demand

PHILADELPHIA, May 16, 2006— Under the theme “Your Digital Difference,” HP today announced that it will be demonstrating its end-to-end digital printing solutions, supported with world class business development tools, at AIIM/On Demand. Part of the first postcard-to-billboard digital portfolio for the graphic arts industry, the innovative HP products and services on display highlight the uncompromising image quality, reliability and productivity features that help print service providers capture more business and increase profitability. HP’s AIIM/On Demand booth, #1424, will feature the HP Indigo press 5000 and the large-format HP Designjet 5500 Printer series – along with partner technologies that include software and finishing solutions to create a truly integrated customer experience. The company will also highlight its latest HP Scanjet products featuring specialized scanners designed for effective workgroup document management. “At AIIM/On Demand, we are proud to demonstrate the solutions and services that are helping graphics professionals manage the convergence of communications, digital information, and printing,” said Manny Kostas, vice president of marketing, Graphics and Imaging Business, HP. “Our broad portfolio of small-, wide- and super-wide-format digital presses and printers, together with our new business development and support programs, enable our customers to capture new opportunities by expanding their service offerings.” Headlining HP’s digital portfolio is the HP Indigo press 5000, the best selling HP Indigo press on the market. Recently named the "first true universal production device" by InfoTrends(1), the press enables commercial printers to use the same device and workflow for one- to seven-color applications. The HP Indigo press 5000 offers superb digital color printing, as well as the cost-effective capability to produce monochrome pages at less than $0.004 per page. To help HP Indigo customers capture business success, HP is offering a comprehensive series of new customer service programs. Ranging from tools to help customers secure new business to enhanced customer service and support, the programs include: · HP Indigo Business Development Equipping customers with the right resources to capture business success, the comprehensive tool set features a variety of offerings that increase the knowledge of digital press users and helps them win new business. The resources include pre-sales consultancy, job estimation and agility assessment; guides for design and color applications as well as selecting media and substrates; a personalized portal that serves as a repository for useful online tools and information; on-site and customized education programs and a variety of additional business growth resources – all available online at the HP Indigo customer portal (www.myhpindigo.com). · HP Digital Press Service Implementation and Customer Ramp-Up Management Program HP has enhanced its operator training program to accelerate ramp up into full-scale production and transition to high levels of productivity. Led by experienced HP customer engineers and program managers, the program combines classroom courses with a complete series of on-site and remote interactive hands-on training sessions. Through this program, operators gain an understanding of how to optimize the performance of HP Indigo digital presses and supporting workflows to produce the best quality output for clients and help grow their business. · Instant Support for Digital Printing (ISDP) This support solution provides a single remote monitoring and predictive support capability to reduce unscheduled downtime. Scalable from the simplest printing environment to a more complex mission-critical data center environment, this offering enables HP Indigo presses to electronically monitor themselves - providing the real-time monitoring of hardware and software components to detect potential issues. If an issue is identified, the press transmits data to remotely-located experts and support centers for diagnosis and immediate response. Complimenting HP’s digital press portfolio will be 10 different partner solutions, including the Dorn SPE DMC 19-inch UV coater. HP is now reselling this coater which is an affordable, user-friendly product that protects digitally printed marketing material and enhances design aesthetics with gloss, matte and satin finishes. Additional partner technologies include the new HP Indigo Production Stream Server, powered by Creo, which facilitates unified workflows for driving both offset and digital equipment through popular hybrid workflows such as Brisque, Prinergy and Synapse prepress. Also recently introduced are the HP Scanjet 7800 and 8390 scanners designed for document management environments. The HP Scanjet 7800 is a sheetfed scanner, providing scans at up to 25 pages per minute (ppm), or 50 images per minute (ipm) with a 50-page automatic document feeder. The legal-size HP Scanjet 8390 is HP’s fastest document flatbed scanner, offering quality document scans at speeds up to 35 ppm for single-sided pages, or two-sided scans at 70 ipm with an 100-page document feeder(2).
