XMPie First to Introduce Web-to-Print Storefronts With Plug-In Architecture

Press release from the issuing company

PHILADELPHIA, May 16, 2006 - AIIM/ON DEMAND 2006 -- XMPie, www.xmpie.com, the award-winning provider of dynamic publishing software today announced a new version of its Web-to-Print solution, uStoreTM. Based on breakthrough plug-in architecture, uStore 2.0 enables users to extend its core features and capabilities by developing plug-in modules. The plug-ins can leverage third party tools and software for enhanced functionality. Plug-ins are developed using the Microsoft .NET Framework, and each one can include custom business logic and a Graphical User Interface (GUI). uStore 2.0 is being showcased in XMPie's Booth #3257 at AIIM / On Demand. uStore 2.0's open architecture allows store owners to create optimized storefronts that best suit their business needs. uStore 2.0 owners can create plug-ins for several core functions: - Product Specification and Pricing Systems - Develop custom pricing models and connect to external systems, such as MIS software or homegrown accounting systems to retrieve product, printing specification and pricing information that can be seamlessly included in the storefront workflow. Multiple plug-ins can be developed and added to a uStore implementation. Administrators can select the appropriate plug-in on a product-by-product basis. uStore 2.0 ships with a complete pricing module developed by XMPie. - Shipping Systems - Create modules that integrate with shipping systems to provide shipping rates, weight calculations, tracking information and shipping labels. uStore 2.0 comes complete with a ready-made plug-in to FedEx, developed by XMPie. - Messaging Systems - Set up customized, automated notifications to the customer, operators and administrators at pre-determined events in the workflow, and even designate which contacts should receive those notices. These messages can, for example, alert customers of their progress, or notify managers for approval of design and purchase. uStore 2.0 ships with a sophisticated email notification plug-in developed by XMPie. - List Provider Systems - Develop software which connects to third party providers so that store customers can purchase recipient databases, right when ordering documents, helping to streamline the creation and production of VDP campaigns. uStore 2.0 ships with a ready-made plug-in developed by XMPie which provides native integration with USADATA, a leading provider of privacy-compliant consumer, business and specialty mailing lists and sales leads. "Many customers like the ease-of-use and rapid deployment of online storefront products, but also find their pre-determined functionality somewhat limiting in meeting specific e-commerce and workflow needs, some of which can never be fully anticipated in advance," said Eyal S. Goldwerger, CEO of XMPie. "With uStore 2.0, we have solved this major challenge by providing the first plug-in based architecture for Web-to-Print. Customers can fully rely on uStore's rich out-of-the-box functionality for complete developer-free setup of online storefronts and use uStore's extended capabilities to allow professional service providers or their internal teams to tailor their storefront to satisfy more specific needs."
