New ROOM Workflow Plugin For Windows-based Harlequin RIPs, as well as Mac OS X and Linux

Press release from the issuing company

May 11, 2006. Portland, OR -- Fusion Systems International, a leading independent developer of Mac OS X and Linux RIPs, as well as prepress workflow solutions, announced today immediate availability of a Windows-based version of their industry-proven DigiPage ROOM Workflow Plug-in for Harlequin@ RIPs. DigiPage is a ROOM Plug-in for Harlequin-based RIPs (such as the Fusion RIP) that enables single page processing and facilitates post-RIP imposition workflows. DigiPage also provides 100% digital integrity between preview, proofing, and the final plate and printed work. It functions like an output device plugin, and all setup and administration is performed through standard Harlequin Page Setup dialogues. The RIP outputs one DigiPage file for each page or job file sent to the RIP. 30-day free evaluation copies of the plugin are available from the Downloads page of Fusion Systems International's Website at www.FusionSystems.com. DigiPage automatically creates a unique output directory for each job, based on the job name. Each DigiPage file contains all of the required production elements: screened and trapped 1-bit TIFF separations, a composite color proofing file (8-bit TIFF) created from the 1-bit TIFF separations (down-sampled and de-screened), and a 72 dpi preview file. The plugin enables single-page RIPing and trapping which requires significantly less resources than does RIPing and trapping entire imposition flats. This dramatically accelerates correction cycles. Only those pages needing corrections are re-ripped, and the newly ripped pages automatically overwrite the incorrect pages. The DigiPage output files are compatible with all PostScript and imposition layout applications, OPI server applications, proofing devices, imagesetters, computer-to-plate devices, and digital presses. For shops still outputting film, DigiPage provides a valuable add-on solution and a smooth means of transitioning to Computer-to-Plate technology. DigiPage also has a built-in Script Processor backend that facilitates automation, database and third-party workflow integration, or any number of other user required task automation capabilities. If a routine task such as file routing, page proofing, file name cleansing, etc, can be scripted, then it can also be automated using DigiPage. Most any scripting language can be used. Fusion Systems International (www.FusionSystems.com) specializes in scalable RIP technologies and has been providing prepress workflow solutions since 1997.
