Second VUTEk PressVu UV 180/600 from EFI Installed at Data Image

Press release from the issuing company

Meredith, N.H. (April 26th, 2006) – Leicester, England-based large format specialist, Data Image Group Ltd., has installed a second VUTEk PressVu UV 180/600 rigid and flexible printer. Driven by the rapid success of its initial PressVu UV 180/600 installation, its second VUTEk flatbed printer is meeting an increased demand for premium quality retail POP and exhibition graphics, enabling Data Image to take on longer run length jobs. Alan Farfort, director, Data Image Group Ltd., comments, “The high print quality provided by both our PressVu UV 180/600s has significantly extended our business. Our first PressVu, installed in 2004, provides the capability to print direct to substrate and increase productivity, while our second VUTEk printer (installed March 23rd) enables us to keep up with demand and service jobs requiring longer runs with ever-shortening deadlines.” Working for a host of blue-chip clients, including Adidas, Ben Sherman and O², Data Image recently produced exhibition stand graphics used at the Geneva Motorshow for the British sports car manufacturer, Lotus. Maximizing the high speed and high quality benefits of its PressVu UV 180/600, Data Image was able to produce 100 square meters of graphics featuring photographic imagery of the latest Lotus models, designed to reflect the sports pedigree and cutting edge styling of the leading British brand. Speaking about the Lotus job, Farfort comments, “As people view tradeshow graphics at a very close range, the Lotus banners had to be printed perfectly, and of course, produced very quickly. The speed of the PressVu UV 180/600 ensured that we could meet the tight deadline while still delivering bright, vibrant and consistent graphics across two different substrates – essential in retail and exhibition work.” Following a very successful show for its customer, Data Image has received phenomenal feedback from both Lotus and show visitors, enabling it to win further image critical work. Farfort comments, “Not only is it perfect for high quality print production, but our additional PressVu UV 180/600 is already paying dividends, meeting demand for jobs with 80 sets of graphics or more.” By using its first PressVu UV 180/600 to print direct to rigid and flexible substrates, Data Image was also able to save more than £60,000 ($107,000) per annum, through the elimination of self-adhesive vinyl and the time consuming mounting process. Farfort continues, “Finding solutions to problems is what we are all about. By using our PressVu UVs’ ability to image to unusual and typically problematic substrates, we have been able to push the boundaries of print and expand beyond traditional digital large format markets. As an example, we recently printed onto glass mirrors for retail decoration, leather hide for a leading sports manufacturer, and cotton for the production of lampshades and men’s suits for a leading UK retail fashion house.” Data Image is a true family business. In 1992, father and son team, Alan and Robert Farfort, started the company from their family home in the East Midlands, UK. Offering large format graphics for indoor and outdoor promotion, the company quickly out grew its residential surroundings and moved to larger premises. In 2004, Data Image was relocated to a 6500 square foot facility, specifically engineered to house its first PressVu UV 180/600 installation. Adding another 6000 square foot in 2006, Data Image is well equipped for future growth.
