PANTONE and Quark extend PANTONE Color capabilities

Press release from the issuing company

CARLSTADT, N.J. – May 23, 2006 – Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, and Quark Inc., an important partner of nearly two decades, today announced updated PANTONE Color solutions for the accurate reproduction of color. Over the years, the two companies have worked together to continually provide designers and print professionals with the most up-to-date tools within QuarkXPress. The ability to select and specify colors that will reproduce as expected is imperative to any print project. QuarkXPress 7 offers an extensive set of new features, including the new PANTONE color bridge coated libraries for both North American and European standards. The colors available in these libraries provide the closest CMYK simulations for solid PANTONE Colors when printed on coated paper. QuarkXPress 7 also contains a comprehensive library of PANTONE Color Systems, including PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Colors for printing on coated, uncoated and matte papers, PANTONE Pastels and Metallics, PANTONE 4-color process coated and uncoated, as well as support for Hexachrome color separations and a special set of solid PANTONE Colors represented in Hexachrome. "QuarkXPress 7 is advancing the world of creativity beyond boundaries with significant workflow advancements and completely integrated color management," said Jürgen Kurz, senior vice president of desktop products at Quark. "The inclusion of PANTONE Color Libraries – and most important, the new PANTONE color bridge library – lets designers confidently specify colors and trust that their color choices will reproduce as expected." "Color-related mistakes translate into extra expense and lost time," said Andy Hatkoff, vice president, Electronic Color Systems for Pantone Inc. "QuarkXPress 7 provides color management with PANTONE Color support to ensure accurate color reproduction from design to print. The addition of the PANTONE color bridge library provides designers with the formulas for the best possible reproduction of solid PANTONE Colors in CMYK. The PANTONE color bridge guide is one of the most valuable tools a designer can have when selecting and matching colors in QuarkXPress 7. It takes the surprise out of printing by providing a side-by-side view of PANTONE Colors next to their four-color process representations."
