Delaware newspaper orders first Goss Magnapak system with polywrapping capability

Press release from the issuing company

April 13th, 2006 – The News Journal in Wilmington, Delaware will install the first Goss Magnapak packaging systems equipped for collating and polywrapping as well as inserting, in the fall of 2006. Goss International will supply two shaftless Magnapak insert packaging systems with a total of 70 stations. One will be integrated with the new JWR Wrapper and dual stackers supplied by CMC. The system will also include Goss Omnizone supervisory controls and a Ferag UTR press gripper line feeding on-line to the two insert packaging systems. The newspaper will be able to produce standard inserted products to stackers as well as collated and/or inserted products wrapped and sealed in a poly-bag. “Our goal is to set a new standard of service and accuracy for our customers and we believe the Magnapak, CMC polywrapping and Ferag delivery system will provide the means to do it efficiently and cost effectively,” said Antoinette Franceschini, vice president of production at The News Journal. Both Goss Magnapak systems will be configured for dual-delivery, allowing inserting into one jacket at up to 30,000 copies per hour or inserting into two separate jackets simultaneously at up to 60,000 copies per hour. One system will include 32 stations, while the second will have 38 stations and be integrated with the CMC polywrap system. “We’ve worked closely with CMC for several years to fully integrate their wrapping technology with the Magnapak system and our controls,” explains Doug Gibson, Goss International vice president of sales. He notes that the CMC wrappers and the Magnapak system will be able to insert or collate and wrap a wide range of comic packs, Sunday completes and TMC packages to fully contain all the inserts and preprint sections. “The combination presents a breakthrough for papers looking for innovative ways to bring more value to their advertisers, delivering an accurate and sealed package to the consumer,” according to Gibson.
