Matthews Packaging Graphics Chooses ORIS for Proofing and Color Workflow

Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh (April 5, 2006) – After exhaustive testing and research, Matthews Packaging Graphics, a division of Matthews International, has selected ORIS Color Tuner as the standard proofing environment in all of its facilities in the US. Three Matthews Packaging Graphics facilities and two remote customer site facilities are slated for ORIS installations in early 2006, with more to follow. In addition to its extensive US operations, Matthews also has brand solutions and packaging production facilities in The UK, Germany, Denmark, and Hungary. The process leading to ORIS adoption was a rigorous one. According to Division Technical Director Kevin Chop, the review process considered KCMY colorimetric print-to-proof accuracy, spot color accuracy, GUI (user interface), global and localized tools, inkjet media, and support. The four major inkjet proofing vendors were considered, each driving Epson printers, and results were carefully measured and evaluated. ORIS was chosen because it performed very well in all six categories. Chop cited ORIS’ fast, accurate performance as well as its employment of easy-to-use “Wizards” as the deciding combination. “ORIS offers the best of both worlds: quality and productivity,” he said. “It has a predictable outcome from an accurate KCMY colorimetric proof-to-print, as well as a strong GUI for ease of use. Together, these equal success in our business.” Chop also praised CGS’ optical brightener-free proofing media, which removes the UV factor when measuring critical spectral data. Matthews also selected ORIS Certified Proof as the means of systematically evaluating proof quality and company standards conformance. Other ORIS color workflow products are under consideration.
