New HP Swatchbooks Highlight 6-Color Options and Expanded Media Range for HP Indigo Presses

Press release from the issuing company

BIRMINGHAM, England, April 6, 2006 – HP today announced additional offerings to enhance the user experience and maximize the value of HP Indigo presses in an expanding range of industrial and commercial production environments. Now available are two new swatchbooks for HP Indigo press users that showcase HP's extensive color capabilities and media options. “Leveraging our imaging and printing leadership, we are focused on helping customers achieve consistent, high-quality images and accurate color reproduction on our digital presses,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division, HP. “These new swatchbooks equip our customers with the tools to consistently create long-lasting, visually appealing materials on our digital presses.” ‘Divided' swatchbook highlights color capabilities The new CMYK / CMYKOV swatchbook for HP Indigo presses is divided into four and six colors PANTONE-licensed simulations to help customers select the best color process for the print job. Featured in the book is the HP IndiChrome on-press six-color process (CMYKOV) compared to standard four-color process (CMYK). With this tool, print buyers have the option to visually evaluate the tradeoff between economical solution (CMYK) and the more accurate simulation and broader color gamut of CMYKOV. With PANTONE Colors represented for the first time, in a four vs. six colors simulation, the new “divided” swatchbook enables more accurate prepress decisions when specifying a job, as well as provides valuable information for print service providers' customers on the unmatched capabilities of HP ElectroInk in offset color quality and consistency. The new “divided” swatchbook will become available to HP Indigo customers during the second half of 2006. New look and layout for HP Media Swatchbook HP's redesigned media swatchbook for HP Indigo presses is an easy-to-use guide that clearly presents media available for use with HP Indigo presses. A new star grading in the guide also highlights the digital printing industry's largest selection of certified media. Available now, the media swatchbook includes a total of 39 newly qualified substrates. Highlights are: •Ten new certified label, flexible packaging and shrink sleeve media for the HP Indigo presses s2000, ws2000 and ws4050 •Two new lenticular media for the HP Indigo press s2000 •Newly qualified media for the HP Indigo presses 3050 and 5000 •An expanded range of low-weight papers suitable for commercial catalog and publishing operations with the HP Indigo press w3200 and the new w3250 model •Additional, newly qualified self-adhesives, synthetic sheets and specialty uncoated, carbonless papers. “Now more than ever, HP's excellent quality and selection of supplies and media for HP Indigo presses provides a distinct competitive advantage to print service providers who choose HP Indigo presses,” said Hans van Veen, Director, Indigo Supplies and Media, HP. “Our new swatchbooks signify how HP provides ‘Your Digital Difference' in real terms, with the best selection of media, the industry-leading quality of liquid HP ElectroInk, and an unparalleled capability to match more PANTONE Colors than any other digital printing platform.” The new media and CMYK/CMYKOV swatchbooks will be presented at IPEX 2006, April 4-11, in the HP stand, #4-A01 in Hall 4 at the National Exhibition Centre.
