Creo Print On-Demand Solutions and Xerox Demonstrate VDP and Digital Workflows at IPEX 2006

Press release from the issuing company

IPEX 2006, Birmingham, UK (April 4, 2006) - Creo Print On-Demand Solutions (PODS) Group and Xerox are joined by digital workflow partners to print an original personalised calendar for visitors to the Xerox Hall 3A at IPEX. The 2006 Creo PODS calendar takes IPEX visitors back to the pop music revolution of the Sixties. From creation to finishing, the personalized calendar is produced live on the stand. The Creo Print On-Demand Solutions Group is a unit of Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. Creative Artist Michel Kichka created the calendar with 12 entertaining scenes of unforgettable performers. On the Xerox stand, the DARWIN VI authoring tool personalises the Creo PODS layout of the calendar design. The unique calendar images are automatically composed with the CREO PODS Web Composition Solution (WCS) integrated with PRESS-SENSE IWAY PRIME management software. This application demonstrates the capabilities of CREO PODS variable data printing (VDP) solutions in 1:1 marketing campaigns. Its design tools, easy-to-use personalisation rules, and capabilities for merging the database with the design can create even the most complex VDP jobs. On-Line Production and Printing The CREO PODS WCS compiles the variable data with the template instantly. At IPEX 2006, visitors at the Xerox stand create their personalised calendar by selecting the calendar template, typing in their details into the form and proofing the end result on screen. When approved, the personalised calendar is sent to print by the XEROX DocuColor 8000 digital press, driven by the CREO PODS SPIRE CXP8000 colour server. Finishing The UK-based finisher, Morgana Systems Ltd, is finishing the IPEX 2006 calendar as a free-standing desktop calendar, using a fusion punch. Visitors to the Xerox Corporation hall 3A can see CREO PODS solutions and personalise their own calendar from April 4-11, 2006.
