Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 1, 2006 – HP today announced it is extending its leadership in technical print production with the announcement of the HP Designjet 820 MFP. The new multifunction solution is designed for efficient, high quality wide-format copying and scanning, producing an D(A1) print in 90 seconds at 2400 x 1200 dpi. AEC and GIS users, as well as copy shops, will benefit from the HP Designjet 820 MFP’s versatility and extremely affordable price. “With the new HP Designjet 820 MFP, we are able to bring many of the technology improvements employed in the heavy-duty HP Designjet 4500 mfp to users who need the same quality and reliability, but with a lower print volume and a very economical price,” said Enrique Lores, vice president and general manager, Inkjet Commercial Division, HP. The HP Designjet 820 MFP offers a host of competitive features, including: •an integrated design for a smaller footprint •a new touch screen panel •508-dpi optical resolution scanning technology •fast scan-while-copy speeds •faster image processing(1) •connectivity through Contex software development kits •more user-replaceable parts for increased uptime(1) •an embedded operating system •robust media profiling tools for better color consistency •an on-board DVD writer. The HP Designjet 820 MFP uses four color (CMYK) pigment inks, and scans 1.5 inches per second in color, or 5-inches per second in monochrome, at 200 dpi. It can support 42-inch x 150-foot media rolls and prints lines with up to +/-0.2% accuracy. Like the HP Designjet 4500mfp, it operates with a larger, faster Pentium IV, 2.6 Ghz processor, but has separate, stacked printing and scanning units to save valuable floor space. Its third-party application support capabilities make the HP Designjet 820 MFP easy to integrate with a wide variety of scan applications, such as raster-to-vector conversion or document management programs. Available as of April 1 in North America, the HP Designjet 820 MFP has an estimated U.S. street price of $20,995(2).
