Press release from the issuing company

Quebec City, Canada, March 27th, 2006 – Taking workflow automation one step closer, Dynagram is proud to announce increased connectivity between DynaStrip, a high-end digital imposition software, and Cerm, the global solution for the automated administration of the printing business. Upstream integration Printers are looking for ways to speed up the printing process by reducing the number of steps as much as possible. Upstream connectivity is the solution to profitable print operations. Job planning data can now be passed on to DynaStrip by Cerm MIS to initiate the creation of imposition layouts. The layout information can be validated and completed by the prepress operator, ensuring you the overall quality of the job. The resulting imposition can be outputted in any format, including PDF and JDF. This tighter connectivity also allows for better flexibility. Downstream integration At output, DynaStrip adds its imposition information to the original JDF file, which is then forwarded, along with a PDF marks file, to be executed by the next workflow process. Tangible results for printers This streamlined and open collaboration between DynaStrip and Cerm MIS is definitely an important step towards an automated workflow. For printers, it is also synonym with peace of mind since JDF import ensures consistency between the planning/estimating of a job and its actual production. “With JDF import, DynaStrip achieves both upstream and downstream integration with prepress workflows, connecting the planning stage to the production stage. The industry is working hard to achieve total automation and we are right there with them.” says Tracey-Lee Batsford, General Manager of Prepress Solutions at Dynagram. “This JDF-based solution for an automated imposition will probably be more cost-saving than any other JDF-link. Not only the re-entry of job-ticket information will disappear, but also the endless creation of templates will be history. Prepress operators can finally concentrate on quality, control and exceptions,” says Geert Van Damme, CEO of Cerm.
