Next Generation Lasers from Intense Transform Imaging Systems on show at IPEX 2006

Press release from the issuing company

Intense Ltd will be presenting its unique and disruptive laser technology at IPEX 2006, April 4 – 11, Hall 6, Stand C40. Set to transform CTP, digital printing and coding and marking, the Intense “INSlam” laser array module is a break-through in laser technology delivering up to 100 lasers on a single, compact component. A generic platform, INSlam (individually addressable single mode laser array modules) uses Intense’s fundamental intellectual property, known as “QWI” (Quantum Well Intermixing) – a monolithic integration platform built on a single component, comprising electronics and one or more laser diodes. Up to 100 individually addressable QWI lasers, operating at wavelengths of 830 or 980nm are each capable of delivering 150mW or more. As the INSlam module is the optical head, manufacturers that employ it can reduce the size and complexity of their systems and enjoy the benefits of reduced production and support costs. Graphic arts applications for INSlam modules, which can be placed side by side to create super arrays of up to 1000 lasers, include CTP, digital printing and coding and marking. Intense is offering INSlam and its other laser technologies as an OEM partner to companies operating in the graphic arts, medical and defence industries. Benefits of Intense INSlam laser arrays for CTP include: * lower cost of entry for high quality thermal CTP * scalable solutions enabling modular and incremental increases in speed * reduced system complexity combined with more power giving cost effective higher throughput devices A venture capital-funded company formed in 2000 with an exclusive intellectual property licence from the University of Glasgow, Intense has since raised nearly £40 million. Based at the Hamilton Science and Technology Park, near Glasgow, the company has 85 employees and a fabrication facility for the design and manufacture of the unique laser arrays. An ISO 9001 qualified manufacturer, Intense has built a track record of working with many of the worlds leading Industrial and Graphic Arts companies.
